CJ Miles Breakout Season (take 4)

I could see Miles averaging 15 points per game. After Jefferson and Millsap, scoring is pretty much up for grabs. I could see Harris, Miles, or Hayward claiming the 3rd scoring role.

I know it sounds lame, but I see this being a good year for Miles. It's the infamous contract year, and he can't get any worse, right?

We're talking about over the course of a season (albeit shortened) right? Then, no.

I'd rather hear about him working on his defense and rebounding. As an emotional player making a big play on the other end of the court could really help his shot.

Anything less than 15ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3 apg on at least 45% from two and at least 36% from three is a failure.
There were only 3 wing players in the NBA last season who hit those numbers: Monta Ellis, Paul Pierce and Steph Curry.

A classic Sloanism was always "don't play backwards," and that's exactly what CJ's problem is. Misses a couple shots, turns it over then he hangs his head, starts thinking too much, gets hesitant, starts aiming his shots and trying to do too much off-the-dribble.

Last year CJ had alot of pressure to be "the guy" on our 2nd-unit and he just couldn't play up to it. Once his confidence took that blow - that was it. That pressure should be off of him now and he can just go play, like he did in the 09-10 playoffs filling in for AK. He'll always be a streak-shooter and I'm not sure he factors into our longterm plan, but I do expect a bit of a bounceback season (in terms of efficiency).

Is this CJ's last year under contract?
Yes.

That is surprising. More wings should be hitting those numbers. It just shows that (a) there aren't many wings with a complete game , or they'd be getting a few rebounds and assists and (b) the guys that do have a complete game are taking too many bad shots, or they'd have some better shooting percentages. Any starter wing should be close to those numbers. I'm confident Gordon can hit those numbers.

Most wings don't average 3 assist per game. To average 3 apg you have to have the ball a decent amount. Most wings aren't asked to facilitate that much.

Holy **** I'm tired of this thread/conversation/topic.

This.

And this says it all:

reg------min---fg--3pt (C.J. Miles)
2007–08 11.5 .479 .390
2008–09 22.5 .459 .352
2009–10 23.8 .429 .341
2010–11 25.2 .407 .322
2011–12 26.1 .389 .304 ?

(thanks Legatus...best sig ever)

Every report every year is that he worked hard in the off-season gained/lost weight, blah blah blah so now he will be an all-star. And this is what we get for buying into the unmitigated ********.

So, what, we give him 30 mpg this year and he produces .342 and .281? No thanks.
