Boston chose the draft road because they literally had nothing. We have something.None of those 15 picks are guaranteed top lottery picks esp the Cavs picks. Ainge really wasn't able to parlay his warchest of midling FRP's in Boston into anything meaninful.
If they have a chance to grab a premium lottery pick this season where they don't have championship aspirations I think that is a good thing. Using the Ainge Boston analogy.... A top pick in this draft could mean the difference between drafting a potential Tatum/Brown type stud (Ausar/Amen) or just a roleplayer in the Marcus Smart tier (Wallace/Black). That could be the difference in becoming a future championship team or just a good team barely making the playoffs every season.
Ainge will choose the best path he sees based on where we are.. just like he did in Boston. I think we will get a few very good rotational pieces this draft and hopefully 1 good starter but likely need 1 more impact player through trades as well.
