Austin is great, like amazingly great. San Antonio is OK as far as mid-sized cities go in my book.

Denton is also another really nice place in Texas that isn't really talked/known about.

All Austin is good for is SXSW. There is some weird *** people in Austin, and when I am talking people, I'm talkin thousands of weirdos. The traffic is beyond bad, worse than the Tone, and they have nearly 400,000 less people.

We're looking at a lot of locations in Texas. We've got two young boys, so we're not looking for a lot of usual "excitement". On our short list currently: Galveston, Temple, San Antonio, Austin, Lubbock (very doubtful), and MAYBE Dallas.

Realistically, though, probably Galveston or Temple.

Would it be a house on the water in Galveston?

My grandparents use to have a vacation house there and it was nice and always fun to visit, but I couldn't see myself living there.

WTF you do, bro? WV, TX, Beverly Hills ..

The only city in Texas I have been is San Antonio I flew in one night made my presentation the next morning and flew out the next evening. I spent an hour on the river walk and the Alamo it was alright.

Should have tried Avis.

As for the thread I would do a Lowry, already seems to have lost the fans, for jefferson. Add some filler and it would work.

Temple's okay, for what it's worth I live only 20 miles out in Killeen. And yes, Killeen pretty much blows. If you want easy transit, less traffic, Temple is your bet. Want a small town? Belton is a good choice too. Seems to me you want to be in the Central Texas area.

Austin isn't for everybody, that is for sure. From my experience, the traffic in Houston is much, much, much worse than it is in Austin.

I've never been stuck for hours in traffic jams in Austin like I have been multiple times in Houston.

Yep. And the deer pop in Austin is cool for kids.

When we settle down we're thinking possibly San Antonio-ish. The places we're looking at now are for residency, so we'd likely only be there four years, which also limits where we can live. Ideally, we'd end up in the same place where we'd settle down but as far as the programs go and where we want to be there's a slight mismatch, which may take us to South Carolina instead. Then Texas, hopefully. How's Corpus Christi? Hotter than hell?

Where in SC vs. where in TX is a good question. Overall, I really like the people in TX.

Columbia or Charleston for SC, (in a somewhat preferential order for TX) Galveston, Temple, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas. Then a random spattering of places like Oklahoma, Arkansas, Ohio, etc. Most of location is determined by program, unfortunately.
