Columbia or Charleston for SC, (in a somewhat preferential order for TX) Galveston, Temple, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas. Then a random spattering of places like Oklahoma, Arkansas, Ohio, etc. Most of location is determined by program, unfortunately.

Charleston would be my choice.
In Texas I like Lake Travis area (Austin).
OK, AR, and OH all suck.

Went on a mission to Ohio. Liked it, actually. My wife is from Arkansas, though northwest and not in Little Rock where we'd be (I know, I know). She actually closer to Tulsa, which accounts for the Oklahoma. I really like the idea of Charleston. Not as feasible moonlighting options whil we'd be there, but there aren't any huge reasons why it wouldn't work out for us for multiple purposes. You have yet to suggest UK.

You never mentioned KY.

Where were you in OH that you liked? So curious..

AR is okay in the extreme north, but still sucks.

Columbus. I did not, however, like Dayton. And it was the extreme north that my wife is from.

I've also never been to KY, one of a handful of states I've never seen.

Columbus? Good to know you're not hard to please. I've had offices in Columbus (Independence), Cinci, Y'Town, and Port Clinton. Only place I liked in OH was Put-in-Bay.

I lived near Houston for 11 years and my grandparents have lived there my whole life. It's a pretty crappy place, but I generally hate any city that has a population of over a million people.
The thing I hate most about Houston (and there are a whole bunch to pick from) is the humidity. I once stepped out of a hotel and the moment got outside I went from completely dry to soaking wet. A torrential rainstorm wouldn't have soaked me any more, but unlike a rainstorm it felt absolutely disgusting. Why do people choose to live in that hell hole?

Where does El Paso fit on the Texas cities scale? That's the only place of note I've been there and it was very Bakersfield, CAish(which I hate). But I was only there for a few hours before we crossed the border and went through some even bigger ****holes in Mexico.

I've always wanted to check out the other Texas cities of size though simply because the housing stock is pretty amazing for the price, but have never gotten around to it. I need to roadtrip the South one of these days. I don't know that area at all.

El Paso is very strange and the Bakersfield comparison is a good one. It's weird, flat, and full of psychos.. but it's been 10 years for me, maybe it's changed, lol.

My buddy lives in a suburb of Dallas and it's very, very nice. Very clean, tons of good restaurants.

I lived in Texas for a while. Austin and some of the outlying suburban areas are really nice (I lived in Round Rock). San Antonio is nice. I've been to The Woodlands near Houston a few times - nice place.

Otherwise, El Paso, Dallas, Houston, Waco.....they're all pretty much dumps. I have a brother-in-law who lives in Lubbock and my mother-in-law lives near Killeen. Those places got to be two of the biggest **** holes in the country. Let alone Texas.

You're in NJ .. Philly .. where again?

Memphis is a humid, flat dump that is full of nut jobs as well.

So what do you guys think of Jersey? I've never lived there, but spent a lot of time .. how's it for living?
