Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

Being at the vegas summer league last night, he's impressed me somewhat. But he needs to more aggressive and shoots his shot attempts surprisingly slow. He needs to go by Reed Sheppard's motto that his mother gave him, 'don't be soft'. Which I agree if you wanna make it in the big leagues. I like what I saw though.
 
Really smooth. He could turn into a star but it will be a minute. I'm about as high on him as I could be though.
 
I think his closest comparison is the young Lauri Markkanen: a quiet talented guy who does not force things. Who does only things that he knows he could do well and under control, and because of that often disappearing for long stretches. But he is also someone who will be steadily working on expanding his bag and reads on the floor and who will be steadily improving year after year.

Other players like that are Kawhi and Jokic.
 
Here is a summer league Paul George. Granted these are highlights, but George seems naturally more aggressive when he gets the ball compared to Cody, who is more methodical.

Aggressiveness sure.

But for me physical attributes and overall game are similar.
 
A lot depends on how Cody develops physically, whether he can become more explosive and whether he can beat defenders in isolation. I see some parallels to Brandon Miller from a couple years ago (Remember, Cody is 2 years younger than Miller, so it would be Miller coming out of HS), but Cody isn't as bouncy as Miller. Cody also likes to dive to the rim more than pull up.

If you like old-school comps, Cody could be like a less explosive Josh Howard or maybe like Walt Williams.
