Collin Sexton SZN

My favorite part of that is the assists. That needs to be his average, not like, wow this is his greatest game ever! When that happens we'll really have something. Otherwise he's just another short sparkplug scorer, and we saw where the last one of those got us.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Sexton fan, but for him to really elevate us he needs to become a solid facilitator or a mini-Iverson. But right now he's a more efficient Clarkson and that's not going to be enough.
As long as he isnt on the ball and trying to initiate offense, he is usually fine as a passer. The issue is when he gets on the ball and is just looking to freestyle. The ball gets stuck and nothing really happens. But when he gets the ball after someone else initiated and he makes a quick decision, he's much better.

Yeah that’s why he works better with keyonte who’s a little bit bigger and can run the point so sexton can be a wing on offense but take the smalllest guy on defense he’s an amazing wing but a bad pg which is his issue because he’s only 6’0

This is very true. Seems a lot more comfortable that way.

Bizarre take.

Sexton has already been blocked 7 times this season, second to only Collins (8), who's been having a really tough time under the rim in half court.

He should have no business driving into the trees.
About 1.2 times per game or something then? not good but with as much as he attacks bigger players, not bad either. Also sample size of last year is much bigger and against a much bigger variety of players so might be a better indicator. how many times was he blocked last season vs number of games he played? im curious.

I know, I know, cherry picking stats to make jazz players look as bad as possible is kinda your thing so sorry.

That's like saying a shot blocker who gets dunked on is a bad defender cuz they got dunked on. You're acting like a mental midget right now.

He's actually 6'5, with the afro 6'9. Pretty good dribbler. He truly defines grace under pressure.

Some of y'all don't give Sexton props. Last season he shot 50% from the field and 39% from three. This season he's shooting 49% from the field and 40% from three. He's very efficient on offense and as a Jazzman his shots have been down.

He's not a pure PG nor will he ever be. Keyonte is the PG of the future and having Sexton and Clarkson in the mix as combo guards is a luxury.

I think Sexton is down to improve on defense as well. He's not going to be a superstar but he's definitely got what it takes to be an important part of our rotation.

I support almost all Sexton slander, but acting like he's a bad finisher is just wild.
You've literally provided zero evidence (even anecdotal) to the contrary. Zero.

"No, he's not a bad finisher in traffic."

Right.

You know what, forget the word "finisher" if it bothers you. Let's just stick to the cold, hard facts. Sexton gets blocked a ton and he's making 33% of the shots he takes within 3 to 10 feet from the basket (i.e. floater range, where there's usually a defender or two between him and the rim). That's terrible. 9th best on this team.

In other words, Sexton is a very small guard who wants to score near the basket. The numbers say that it doesn't make much sense. Almost the whole freaking team is better than him in the 3 to 10 feet range, yet he keeps forcing this stuff.

I’m not sure where you’re getting these numbers from but within 5 feet of the basket he’s averaging 61% from the field on 4.6 attempts per game per nba.com.

Which is the highest on the team from any guard.
