Conley irrelevant...

Any real facts to back up your claim?
Sure the fact that the Jazz would have had at least 2 PF's already on the roster when they were looking to sign him. When the Jazz went looking for a PF it's because they just traded Crowder for Conley, without that trade are they even looking at him? Very unlikely.

I love when things are going well and people start talking about shedding assets.

Guaranteed - three game losing streak and everyone here will be talking about how The Jazz lack depth to be a contender.
Said repeatedly that discussion here is always a function of 'the last 5 games.' Luckily we've won those, but wait until we drop a few.

How about you disprove it (that is how real science works). It has been mentioned by Jazz media people (I don't remember who) that Indiana was unwilling to give the 4th year. Also, nobody believes we wouldn't have signed Bojan just because we had Crowder on the team.
Why would they be looking at him if they didn't need that position? With Crowder on the team they had people at PF, when he got traded they needed somebody. Are the Jazz willing to give that 4th year if the position is less of a need? Do they trade Favors if they don't need the space for the Conley deal? A lot of things happened for the Jazz to even look at him, then the added deal with the roster different makes it seem unlikely he's here if the Conley deal isn't done first.

And Loggrad's post trying to disprove me shows that he mentioned the roster as a reason he signed. He specifically mentions Conley, Rudy and Mitchell in that quote.

That is more like us wanting to sign Bojan than Bojan wanting to sign with us. And in all fairness we can still let Favs and Crowder go without ever doing the Conley trade. It's one of the many ways but not the only way. More of an option than an actual requirement

Fair enough, how about the quote by Loggrad that shows he mentioned the roster as a factor in him signing? And also named Conley in that same quote while not directly saying he was a factor.

No doubt, I mean all we can do is wait and see but there is reason for optimism imo.

I'm not going to fret too much over whether he starts when he gets back or not, either way I think Quin will figure out how best to use him.

One thing I do want to see more of when he returns is PnR with Bogdanovic. I think that's a natural combo that has the potential to really give teams fits.

Maybe. But Rudy needs to maintain gravity in the dunkers spot + Mike needs to be able to punish Rudy’s man when he rotates into the lane to stop him (either by passing to Rudy, getting by him and to the rim, etc.). If Mike continues to settle for the floater and keeps hitting it at the same abysmal percentage, that whole action becomes trashy.

you guys are so near-sighted. Conley is here to take us to the next level in the playoffs. Of course we are a good regular season team, with or without him. That's not the point. The point is to have another guy when we are playing the clippers or the lakers in the post season. We're going to need him if we want a chance at making the conference finals. There will come a time when ingles at point forward won't be enough and that's where all the extra firepower comes into play.

This is one of the thoughts that has come to me as well... guys like JC and Mudiay may not be as effective in the playoffs and that is where Mike should bolster our hopes... My main thing here is not that Mike sucks or Mike won't help... its that his best use might be off the bench. It makes things easier to stagger and mix in the best use of our creators. If the projected starting lineup either Ingles or Mike will likely be marginalized a bit.

Also part of the idea with Mike is we wouldn't need him to be the 21/6 Mike and maybe with a lower USG he would be a touch more efficient. Its been bad early... want to see what his next 10 games looks like.

I think part of the early issues was Rudy catching the ball as well... he's improved his catching and finishing... it might be a timing thing with Joe or that Joe is on a heater right now so he has more gravity... also might be the teams we are playing too.

I have hope that Mike and Rudy should be effective. Mike was good in pick and roll last year and I think it was with JV as much as Gasol (since he was moved). Its just kind of baffling how bad he was.

I would suggest holding off your assessment until the end of the season. Maybe he’s fantastic or maybe he’s a bust.

We’ll all know by summer.

Someone took their meds today. A very normal, level-headed response.

no you couldn't be more wrong. end of season is too late. The team needs to decide soon. If they get it wrong, its another wasted year.
