Coronavirus

A 4-year-old who has a condition that makes him immunocompromised is not "blaming" anyone for his medical condition if there is concern of infection with COVID. People like this are the ones who need protecting from herd immunity.
Isn't it up to the parents to provide the required protection? Isn't life anyway misery forever for both the parents and the kid (due the myriad of other health issues because of the immunocompromisation?) even if every other person who is going to be close is vaccinated :-(. Should we all wear masks even at the seaside beach (like it was in Spain for some period) until that time arrives? In a grand scheme of things the 4,5 million COVID deaths is pretty tiny number when compared to the total population. Of course, on a personal level, every death is a tragedy no matter whether the age is 1, 10 or 100 years no matter what was the reason. I disagree with you with the point that world should be closed until the virus is eradicted; i find that very unlikely, that we have a COVID zero situation in the near future. And at the same time everybody forgets quite fast the death of kids because of traffic accidents, drowning, violence by other people etc etc. because, well, only COVID deaths are worth the media hype :-(.

And to clarify, of course i am kind of tired-annoyed of the typical snakeoil-crystalball-sales(wo)man-at-least-one-BillGates-related-vaccine nonsense post-per-day kind of persons. We have a fair share of them in Estonia, too.

I will try to be more clear about this. Every patient interaction (every interpersonal interaction, really) has risk of spreading infection, which is so many precautions are taken to mitigate risk. An unvaccinated doctor increases this risk.

I don't recall making a claim that providers were not a threat to spread covid19 in 2020. Could you point out what I said that gave you that impression? It would help me communicate my ideas more clearly.

Exactly.

Perhaps, for personal reasons, I am too harsh on anti-vaxxers. Perhaps not.

To play devils advocate are you harsh on people who are overweight ? Who’ve chosen to let themselves be unhealthy and grossly disproportionately at risk of Covid let alone other disease and therefore potentially clog up hospital beds ?

Of course I am being facetious but ..

Society is already harsh on the overweight, and you can't stop being overweight with a 15-minute visit to a pharmacist.

I would probably be harsh on anyone who said being obese is just as healthy as being trim (but not on those who said you can be healthy even while you are overweight, which is slightly different). Still not as angry as at antivaxxers. I don't pretend to be perfectly rational.

So your are suggesting that this hypothetical 4-year-old be locked away in a bubble and stay in his room forever? Or maybe his parents carry guns and whenever someone sneezes they shoot that person to protect their child? The assertion that the parents are responsible to keep their child away from any and all threats and we as a society bear zero responsibility to minimize the risk to our most vulnerable is simply abhorrent.

Conservatives have figured out that liberals pushing the vaccine is a case of reverse psychology.

Or was that reverse psychology to make me get the vaccine so you can control my thoughts and track my movements? :)

Good news is that cases locally seem to be declining. Still way too high, but we may have hit our peak for now (I imagine winter will bring new challenges).

I thought Breitbart was a division of the Onion.
