Not surprised. I live in Utah and attend LDS church. lol.My sister in law recently decided that she will believe the conspiracy theories that is was a hoax and never existed. She even had 2 relatives (on her other side of the family) and a close friend killed by COVID. But suddenly they are rehashing the conspiracies so she decided she needs to believe it. When asked what killed her friend and paused and said "pretty sure it was the Democrats". I **** you not. Un-****ing-believable.
Annnnddd this is why I think we’re in for a generation of right wing authoritarianism: women dying from easily preventable causes, children dying from easily preventable diseases, loss of freedoms, stagnant economy, and a loss of peace and prosperity. We need a generation of misery unfortunately to wake more Americans up from this mass psychosis of boredom, tribal identity, and people seeking entertainment and meaning through ridiculous conspiracies.
Just out of curiosity, does your sister in law have a full time job or does she stay at home? Is she college educated? Is she a practicing Christian? Is she white and living a pretty prosperous life?
It’s amazing to me how often lack of (formal) education, boredom, religion or tribal identity, and prosperity go hand in hand with these things. So many voters are bored as **** and need to make **** up (the librarians are grooming kids, vaccines cause autism, covid 19 isn’t real, George soros is buying elections) to find entertainment and causes to fight against.
