Court: California gay marriage ban is unconstitutional

I stated what I believe. I said it pretty clearly.
I know a lot of you will hate me for it. But what is the point?
You don't know me. You have never met me, and you never will. So who cares?

Me answering your questions won't help any.

You don't know the vast majority of homosexuals, yet you care what they think, believe, can do. Why can't others do the same to you?

That's fine, and I know where these back-and-forths usually go to, so whatever.

To encapsulate my last response I go back to my initial post: bigotry will always lose given enough time.

Live and let live, everyone.

I don't care if you've heard that one before. Does the rate of repetition make a statement more or less true?

And I hate that there are people that have a vested interested in denying rights and opportunities to others for no good reason. You've yet to state a real reason. You're not a very good ambassador for your beliefs.

Well, I think it was Hitler who said that if you repeat a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it. Or that was Heinrich Himler...I believe

I recognize the tactic and I don't go for it.

I don't have to give any reasons. You are not interested in my reasons anyways. This is a Jazz messageboard. I'm not trying to convert anyone.

But we are interested in your reasons, and are more than willing to discuss them (and ours). If you're unwilling, it certainly seems as though that Hitler saying applies more to you than those who wish to engage in a discussion.

I haven't told anyone what to think here. I have merely stated my convictions.
Everyone else seems to be telling me what to think.

Think what you want. We just want to understand why you think what you think, but apparently you're completely unable to justify your beliefs.

Sure, take potshots at my parents, and call me some moron who never thinks for himself (I saw that post)

Same crap I always hear when people don't like my convictions.

Yes, we all just want to have a civil discussion.

No. They're telling what you're thinking is wrong, and why, using things other than irrational religious doctrine, which, at times, burned people for thinking the world isn't flat.

Here we go again.

I'm not saying I agree with craig's approach, but this is the re-run I will enjoy reading.

Numberica calling someone he doesn't agree with closed-minded, yet is perfectly willing to argue each point to the death.

GVC starting right out with labeling someone a moron while insinuating they are only saying what they are saying "because someone told them so".

I could go on, but those are two of my favorites.

Have our threads been syndicated very long?

Aw, this happens everywhere.

So what is wrong with my approach. I do realize that I tend to piss people off a lot more than people who say basically the same thing that i do.

Tell you what. When you die, look me up in the next life, and we'll compare notes and see who was right.

Aw, so if you think religion is wrong, then you must be right and all religion is wrong.

And people get hateful at me for thinking I am right...

I've yet to make any baseless assertions in this thread. When I do, I'll gladly give justification for it or, if I can't, retract the statement. You claimed that it's a "fact" that homosexuality destroys nations, yet have neither provided justification for that statement nor a single example of that happening. So, how does homosexuality destroy nations, and can you provide a single example of homosexuality destroying a nation?

Oh, you just said that I am a moron who does whatever my half-witted parents told me.

Nothing baseless about that.

You have to know your audience.
When you go right at people with "homosexuality destroys nations", you tend to get people on the defensive and offensive.
You also have to know that this has been hashed, and rehashed so many times there will not really be anything useful to come from it.
There is no way you will change Numberica's mind about... well, anything. There is no way you can change the mind of GVC, especially on this issue.
But, if you approach your stance on this issue in a less straightforward and pushy way, you would be able to have a decent discussion with them and others... if that's what you want.

This is why I don't agree with your approach, but that's just me.

I'm not sure you really wanted a discussion as much as an I'm right, no I'm right ping pong match.

By the way, it's more effective to take it all back to the individual.
Next time maybe try it this way.

"Homosexuality destroys individuals, which destroy families, which destroys nations, which destroys the world."

Something like that might get you the fight you are looking for escalated to level 10, instead of the 5 it started at.
