The Stickman is not real, the stickman is not real…… Believe or don’t but hype and facts are two separate things. But urban legend has it that the man is an absolute BEAST!!! And I saw it with my own eyes in a very competitive… .meaningful showdown….made for tv exhibition platform for Victor and Scoot.
Myth #1 - All we have to do is tank hard and he falls into our laps like mana from heaven.
Fact - Even if we finish with the absolute worst record in the league we have a measly 14% chance of landing the guy.
Myth #2 - Best prospect since Lebron, did I say generational?
Fact - Lebron is built like some Greek God at 6’9” and 250 lbs. Victor is 7’3” or four and weighs 210 on a good day. He’s built like, well Chet Holmgren actually. Expecting the same level of durability and sustainability as Lebron is absolute lunacy!
Myth #3 - Wemby has the potential to be better than Kevin Durant.
Fact - Again, Durant, the original thin man is 6’9”, 240. More highly skilled in every facet and reasonably durable though he has suffered through some sizable injuries, the last of which cost his team over a year of court time. Brandon Ingram at 6’8” 190 is a better comparison. Though he played 79 games his first season, he’s averaged 58 in the five years since. He made All Star reserve status once and if he and Zion can ever be healthy at the same time, still has a small window to get past the first round and possibly get a ring.
Myth #4- Even if we tanked to last and missed on Wemby, the consolation prize would be Scoot Henderson and he’s another MONSTAR!!!!
Fact - Okay skilled sure, and at 6’2” 195, undoubtedly more durable than Wemby would be, but do we really need another undersized combo guard? Talk about Mitchell the second! I don’t have the time or patience to break down his numbers but ask yourself this, is he really that much or any better than Sexton, Beasley, THT or even Agbaji?
Myth #5 Superstars and lottery picks get preferential treatment in today’s NBA.
Fact- Not so much anymore as we saw last night. In light of the Doneghy revelations one poll had over 90% of respondents opining that it was a dishonest league. Silver has made it a priority to clean up the NBA’s tarnished reputation.
Stickman isn’t real I tell ya and neither is mortgaging our present full of good young players with loads of potential for an uncertain future. I think gambler Danny trades a few scratch-offs away for a blue chipper at the deadline anyway.
