Dante Exum game footage

I'm in wait and see mode (for now, I was very, very wrong about his lateral speed) but that post had nothing to do with what I think of Dante. I wanted DL to swing for the fences and either succeed very strongly or fail very badly. I want no part of being stuck in the middle for the next 5 years.

With so many young players, why would you think developing them wouldn't put us in the middle for some time to come? Rome was not built in a day as they say...

After watching two full games posted in this thread, I'm still not sure what to think. There is a lot of good, but some concerns as well. Just so hard to judge a kid playing against kids. Can't wait for summer league.

IMO the stuff to dislike is hopefully correctable (like the bad shots and the shooting form). Granted the shooting form may be difficult to fix, but it can be done if he puts the work into it.

That first step off the dribble is tough to correct, and he has it in spades. It is spectacular (at least in the limited amount I've seen it). His physical tools are enormous too.

I guess that's why I love the pick, and also would have liked the Gordon pick. The stuff either doesn't have can be had with hard work, and both kids seem like hard workers (from what I've heard, like I know anything).

The Serbia video is great for those who don't want to or don't have time to watch an entire game. It's a pretty good synopsis of what he's about. Very difficult to stay in front of with that first step and crossover, gets fouled a lot, very good and willing passer (probably should have had 3 or 4 more assists), okay defensively, suspect decision making (take it to the rim on that last play, young fella!) struggles with the shot - including FTs, not the most explosive guy at the rim.

This seems to sum up what i have seen from the few videos i have watched.
(Im working 12 hour shifts every day this weekend so i have not really had any time to sink my teeth into a large amount of footage yet)

It should be noted that Serbia team is MUCH stronger than Australia, theres a solid 3 nba players on Serbia(Micic, Jokic, Milutinov), possibly 4 ( one of the Jankovic's is #19 in the '94 rankings on DX)

Serbia played the US team relatively close in both matchups. the US won all of the other games by 25 or more points, most by 30-40..

Another reason to not to draw conclusions from the averages in these tournaments is theres some seriously ****TY teams;

Someone please tell me how the stats compiled in the USA's 88-29 Win over Ivory Coast are worth a damn.

That's we appreciate you posting the videos - so we can actually watch the games and don't have to rely on some meaningless stats.

Not full games, just highlights. What really got me excited was the spin move and pass he had at 30 seconds into the video. He is extremely quick on his feet. It's going to be really fun to watch him run the fast break.

Well summer league is just a few weeks to go.

In late August/Early September Dante will be representing Australia in the FIBA World Cup tournament too.

Their first game in Group D is vs. Slovenia
30 August 2014
16:30 Local Time (Spain)

So is Dante going to play NBA summer league?
Does he even need to?
I think he will and should.

He can get to know coaches and teammates better and allow the fans to get an early glimpse of him in action in jazz gear!

My pleasure, its my hobby and doesn't seem like work at all, a 'mystery' prospect like Dante is something I treat almost as a challenge. I make a point to familiarize myself with the international players every year for a while now. Seeing Exum picked after doing some extensive research on him pre-draft is fairly rewarding tbh.

Reminds me a bit of Gobert last year but with way more drama.
