Dante Exum Interview and Q&A

I don't mind Dante. All teams draft busts. It is DL decision last summer to keep him on a 3yr fully guaranteed contract that I have problem with.

I wanted to bring him back at the time but wanted better terms... 2/20 with a non guarantee should have been doable or like a 3/21. I guess the move at that point would have been to make some other team overpay or have him take the QO.

It is the doubling down that makes the Dante experiment that much tougher to handle.

Dante loves LA. Even if he develops, the writing is on the wall that he is out long term. Expiring contract fish bait for sure. He isn't coming back even if we are good. The most we can hope for is that he really thrives for a season and someone pays up for his RFA rights or his heart.

Bennett has a career 10.1 PER, and put up a 14.7 his last season. RXum is currently 8.1 and 11.2, and for some reason has gotten twice the minutes (and counting).

PER is terrible to judge players. Valanciunas had a higher PER than Curry last season. Is he better?.

Bennet is just terrible and the worse player. No way around it. He is not an NBA player.

Dante loves LA. Does LA love Dante?

Full disclosure, I’m Australian. I’m a Dante homer and I agree he has shown bugger all yet. I also agree he had a short leash and was told to stand in the corner his first season (the only one he was not injured and played much). He may end up very good if healthy, or a bust. Can we not wait and see (I know it’s been 5 years, but they were injury plagued). He came straight from Aussie high school. He’ll, i averaged more points and boards than him when I played in that competition and I suck.

We are like 2 weeks away from the report that Dante has gained 15 lbs of muscle and looks great in camp report... We kind of need Dante to be functional... I'm rooting for it.

I'm rooting for him too however I don't think we're getting the report of him gaining 15 lbs of muscle in 2 weeks. This video is 5 days old, so if he want's to bulk up, he better get to work and overdose on steroids fast! because he looks very much like the same Dante we've come to know.

Tiny arms?

Fine, give us a stat (anything) that shows Dante is a good player.

If you want to be that literal:

Regularized Adjusted +/-: Dante was 0.84 in 2018-19, or ranked 124th of all NBA players (in other words, a low level starter kind of ranking). For those interested in the comparison, Mudiay was -1.62, or the 466th ranked NBA player.
