If it was another knee I would be more hesitant. I consider it a fair price for a player with his ceiling at his age.

Maybe about $1 million above the mid-level exception. Not sure if bargain is the right word but it's a fair contract.

Yep, might be a slight overpay at first but probably a fair contract within his first year, with the potential to be a considerable bargain by year 2 or 3.

Some people keep talking about Dante as if he isn't getting better, even though he's looking a lot better than the way he started last year.

Basically what it comes down to, is whether or not you believe in his development, and obviously there is a fair amount of fans who don't.

I'm betting the FO disagrees with them and will lock Dante into a 4 year deal. Guess we'll wait and see.

I would not be surprised if another team offered Dante a large contract, as it will be the only way to pry him away. I see no positives from this. Hopefully it is less serious than some have speculated.

He's not getting a big contract offer. He also won't be taking the QO like some people think.

lol, what many things he sacrificed? Did not go to university to become an accountant? or engineer? You guys are so out of touch. Any of you would give your current career just to have what Dante has now, don't even lie to yourself. Get paid guaranteed millions for playing a game + 5 month paid vacation. What kind of dream he still needs to achieve? He is already playing in NBA and it is NOT A CAREER ENDING INJURY for crying out loud. He has at least 10-15 more years to play and to achieve whatever stupid dreams you are talking about.

I am an Exum believer. While I agree with your second statement, I think he is a type of player you continue to hold on to considering his size, athletic ability and age.

That way when he develops into a nice player in 4 or 5 years, he can leave in FA for nothing.

I don't think people understand this. The huge offers to mediocre players are not happening next year. Exum and Hood won't get the max offers because there are only a few teams with space.

Particularly with him coming off a huge injury. Can anyone point to an example of a team overpaying to sign away an oft injured young player that hasn't proven anything in the league?

I mean, don't get me wrong I like Dante and think he has the potential to be a special player, but why would a GM take that kind of risk? It just doesn't make sense.

All I know is that when you have a dream and your path is blocked, it is not easy and can be painful, and some people never overcome the obstacles. As to say his injury is not career-ending, I think you fail to realize that it is troubling. It is the second major injury in Dante's short career. It could be a sign that he will not endure in the NBA. Injuries take their toll. Look at AK47. What many don't realize is the series of many small injuries he had that gradually affected him and short-changed his career. By the time of his retirement, he was only the shell of his former athletic self. It's easy to criticize someone, but if you have not had similar experiences, it's not fair to judge.
