David Locke's Podcast interview with KOC

I've tried to listen to it 3x now and I end up having to pause it for a min or 2 and when I get back it starts over so I took it as a sign that I'm just too lazy to listen to it and quit.

Great, its only Feb 1 and the jazz are already locking onto a need in the draft. I think this is why they fail time and time again in the draft. They decide the position/skill/ attitude that the team is lacking and then evaluate all the players looking for that one thing. They end up with length-Kosta Koufus. Or 3pt shooters--Morris Almound or a replacement for AK--Gordon Hayward. Fail.

It wasn't that at all. NBA management has little leeway to talk about prospects, FA's, etc. Locke OBVIOUSLYwanted to know what KOC thought of Jimmer. KOC didn't feel he could answer, but gave the wink-wink nod of approval to satisfy fans or whatever.

We dont even have a 1st round pick unless we miss the playoffs. This might be a good thing as it will free up some dough to potentially bring over Tomic. perhaps the new CBA will allow teams to pay more for intl players buyouts.

If you look at the Jazz roster, we probably have one of the lowest drafted teams in the league. KOC has done a terrible job of acquiring talent and you can't win in this league with a bunch of late first and 2nd rounders. I don't care how much KOC thinks of Jerry's system, eventually players are what matter in this league.

* Big Al #16
* AK #27(I think)
* Raja Not drafted
* Ronnie Price 2nd rounder
* CJ Miles 2nd rounder
* Milsap 2nd rounder
* Fez 2nd rounder
* Jeremy Evans 2nd rounder
* Gordon Hayward #9(But an obvious bust)
* Memo 2nd rounder
* Watson 2nd rounder

Perhaps part of this problem is that other than the year we got DWill we are always a "good" team and do not get high draft picks? Perhaps?

So in his what 3 min per game you can already tell he is a bust? CJ got at least a couple of years trial period. Hayward deserves the same.

Jazz had a top 20 pick several times in the past decade. Here's how it went:

2002- 19. Ryan Humphrey. Traded to Orlando for Curtis Borchardt.
2003 - 19. Aleksander Pavlovic.
2004 - 14. Kris Humphries and 16. Kirk Snyder.
2006 - 14. Ronnie Brewer.
2009 - 20. Eric Maynor.
2010 - 9. Gordon Hayward.

I don't even remember most of those guys.

Picking at 19/20 doesn't usually land you much of a player.
