Dennis Lindsey feels he owes Richard Jefferson a lot

I heard Darko Milicic is having some troubles in the league. Maybe DL can bring him in and resurrect his career!!!!!!! Who need a youth movement we could be the last hoorah movement! The one foot in a grave movement!!!! The I though I was done since I couldn't even sniff the court on a horrible team movement!!!!!

Wow, that is a very disturbing quote. I would be ok with giving RJ 8-12 mpg, and that is more than what's "owed" to him (WTF??). Isn't this the same guy that came right out and blatantly said he's ditching SLC at first crack of dawn to go championship hunting??

This all makes me wonder... are we really focused on building for the future or are we more preoccupied with resurrecting careers of washed up hacks? Because over the course of the last few years, this organization has shown they're more worried about making mediocre vets happy than developing the youth and future of the franchise. I thought that was all a byproduct of KOC/Corbin incompetence, but it appears that DL is either fully onboard or is nothing more than KOC's puppet.

Perhaps our franchise is more concerned with churning a profit?

I wonder how much of this is related to building agent relationships?

I think the answer is a lot.

It would be interesting to learn if Jefferson is sharing his knowledge with the younger guys. A guy like Jefferson could teach the younger guys a lot about the game.

There's also developing a reputation for being a desirable place for free agent veterans to sign.

Bull. Relationships, with both players and agents, matter. Corbin is going to continue to use lineups he thinks give the Jazz the best chance to win games AND develop young talent. Burning bridges is not some magic franchise saver.

Who said any thing about burning bridges. Why is it okay that jefferson is happy and burks is frustrated?

You think agents are loyal to teams? Agents have only one function, to get the best deal for their client. Jefferson's not loyal to the jazz. Jefferson has announced his intention to leave next year. The jazz don't owe him time on the court. Gvc you are wrong on this issue.

Truly this may be the dumbest thing lindsey ever says. Jazz owe one thing to its players-money. Loyalty, resurrecting careers, and all other extraneous bull crap are just excuses to justify bad decisions.

Not necessarily. Have to have a winning culture in order to win, and loyalty is part of that. What would you think of a boss who says "all I owe you is money." Would anyone be fulfilled working there? And if not fulfilled, how hard would folks be working for the betterment of the team?

You need to deal with the human psychology, a team of mercenaries will NOT win a championship. There must be camaraderie and folks playing for each other and management.

I don't want RJ to be playing as many minutes. But, DL and company are appreciative of RJ's leadership and professionalism. I believe that they contrast that with the cancer named Raja, who ripped the team apart by not respecting the coach and ego.

Not one of you defending/ not entirely disagreeing with DL's comment has given a single, legitimate reason WHY the Jazz owe anything to Richard Jefferson.

This is all very troubling. It's this kind of attitude that leads a team on a one-way trip to Nowheresville... AKA some other city besides SLC.

Why would Alec be frustrated and RJ happy? Alec's minutes have been increasing while RJ's minutes have been decreasing (since late November/early December), and Alec has been closing more close games than RJ.

Aside from that, Alec's usage percentage of 23.1 is third on the team, and 34% higher than RJ's 17.2. Alec has been getting 52.4 touches per game; 31% more than RJ's 40.0. Most importantly, Alec's time of possession per game comes in at 2.8 minutes (the top non-point guard who has played most of his team's games, James Harden, gets 4.7 minutes of possession per game); RJ's at 1.2. That is, bringing Alec off the bench staggers the minutes of the team's 3 primary creators (Trey, Gordo and Alec), allowing Alec to get loads of opportunities to create with the ball in his hands.

If Alec continues to produce efficiently in catch and shoot situations with Gordo and Trey, he'll probably continue to get more minutes.
