What's new

Dennis Lindsey feels he owes Richard Jefferson a lot

It's not about us owing RJ, it's about doing something for him so that both he and his agent owe us. His agent will repay us by using his influence on his clients in our favor

Mellow posted in another thread that jeffersons agent only has one other client..... some dude I never heard of that makes like 600 thousand dollars per year...... so ya

Trade for Andrew Bynum and then cut him? Let him play out the year and then don't pick up his next year? What would be the plan for adding Andrew Bynum? If he's unhappy in Cleveland he'll be really unhappy in Utah.

I'd rather see the team make a move to get some sort of draft pick or young asset out of the deal, but if it helps the tank I won't complain too much.

Didn't Jefferson say he wanted to go to a contender?
How would this be repaying Jefferson for all he's done for Lindsey?

Sources tell ESPN that Cavs remain in Bynum-for-Pau talks with Lakers but also now engaged with Jazz on potential deal for R. Jefferson

i dont really know what to make of this.

with RJ's 11 mil salary who else would the cavs trade..

Truly this may be the dumbest thing lindsey ever says. Jazz owe one thing to its players-money. Loyalty, resurrecting careers, and all other extraneous bull crap are just excuses to justify bad decisions. Jefferson played 25 mins last night and had 4 points. Even if he had played well instead of steaming crap he should never get more than 20 mins.

Kanter who has been beasting in limited time played 19 mins and had 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Jazz seem lost about the purpose of the season. Player development or resurrecting careers.

Yes this is a stupid comment and I hope Dennis Lindsay hasn't been infected with the "veteranitis" which results in playing vets over talented rookies. The Jazz only owe Jefferson his salary and Jefferson has already made it clear that he is going to do what is best for him when he becomes a free agent. I wish the Jazz organization would do what is best for the franchise and stop being the nurse to washed up vets trying to have one more moment at the expense of the Jazz's future. Geez, I am starting to wonder if Dennis has the balls to not skip steps.

It's not about us owing RJ, it's about doing something for him so that both he and his agent owe us. His agent will repay us by using his influence on his clients in our favor, and RJ will go to his next team and gush about what a professional organisation we were and how grateful he is, giving us a good name about the league. And other agents will see what we did and will also influence their clients in our favor.

Don't underestimate the power of agents. I don't know why they keep listing a player's college next to his name, they should list his agent.

Richard Jefferson's agent is a Todd Eley, whose only other client is Cleveland's Carrick Felix for $490k (strange combo... RJ was a Wildcat and Felix a Sun Devil). If DL is doing this just to please Mr. Eley, we are in a lot worse hands than I thought.

Our best hope is that DL is saying these things to talk up RJ as trade bait (which is possible seeing this new rumor). But there's been a lot of overplaying/talking up vets the past couple years as well, though, so I'll believe it when I see it.

Trying to piece together here. Possible scenarios:
1. DL really necessarily agree with Corbins Minute distribution. In public he is never going to say so. Even in private it would have to carefully navigated. The best he can do is a little PR work with future free agents.
2. DL is auditioning to sign a vet that he feels is currently being misused and is more capable than what their current situation allows. Jazz get them cheap, vet can resurrect their career.
3. Marv and/or RJ are being showcased.
4. He believes winning is more important than a high pick, and that RJ/Marv are an important part of winning for this team.

I still don't understand why we aren't tanking anymore. Even if DL believes this draft is way oversold, a top lottery pick would command great trade value.

The players have consistently stuck behind Ty Corbin and been appreciative for his leadership. I'd guess this extends up above Corbin for the hiring. I guarantee Burks is grateful for Corbin taking him from a raw chump to a guy who deserves 26-27 minutes. Corbin's growth plan for Burks is going to make Alec a lot of money in this league.

How can anyone constantly listen to this claptrap? One wonders if Franklin is being paid by Greg to spout P-R for the Jazz. I also have thought he's a relative of Corbin's. Whatever, his Corbin promotion makes no sense whatsoever unless he has some motive to do it.
