I, too, am concerned about rebounding, as I have been forever, because I've insisted we need a 4 who really rebounds (one reason I hadn't been super high on Harris, despite him rebounding better recently). However, Favors really only played with Gobert for a few minutes, so we haven't been running with a rebounding four really at all (Crowder not much of a rebounder nor Niang). So I believe our rebounding from the four will be a wash. Though not good, I don't think we've lost anything.Marginally a step back. I’m concerned about rebounding from the 4 However I think it’s maybe underestimated how mediocre Ricky’s D was for large stretches of last year so I think we’ll be much better at the point defensively as long as Mudiay doesn’t play much

I considered comparing players' DRtgs in Snyder's system with Rudy and in other systems to see how much, if at all, they benefited, but then decided it would be easier just to draw an unsupported conclusion that these players will play better in Snyder's system with Rudy and that I'd better get back to work instead.Good analysis, chicaggie. I guess a better indicator would be to examine the defensive efficiency of all the prior players before they played with Rudy (compared with after) and check the new guys after 30, then 50 games.
This. ^^^^Some of this will be offset by the fact that Mike Conley is so surehanded with the ball and Ricky well... not so much. We will have less live ball turnovers on the pick and roll which will allow less transition opportunities.
The swap in defense with Favors is really the swap of Favors for Green, assuming he starts. The bulk of Favors' minutes were at the 5 so it's really Favors at the 5 vs. Ed at the 5, and Green at the 4 vs. Favors at the 4. I think Green wins out because playing next to Gobert, we needed a four who could defend the perimeter, which I think Green will do better than Favors. We will slip a little on defense... but still top 3 or 4. Rebounding may be the biggest issue. We were a very good... I think the best defensive rebounding team iirc... offensive rebounds mean easy second chance points.

We will make more shots which means the opposing team faces a set defense more... that is no fun for opposing teams.
I think the swap of Favs for Bojan is enough of a downgrade defensively that we slip a bit. I’m not sure it will be super noticeable because the offense should be soooooooo much better.
