What's new

Does Hayward have any trade value, you think?

G-time is beast, he's a boy in a man's body and appears to be loyal to a small market team like us. "Loyalty" or humbleness is rare these days.... West is just dirty, and Hayward was too classy to acknowledge the guy. I don't think Hayward has reached his potential yet.

Lol, he sure is "beasting" in the playoffs, huh? And I don't care if it's the Spurs. Gordon hasn't went for even 15 points in the series yet has he?

Hayward's not getting dealt obviously, nor would I want him to be. He's hardly untouchable, though. But you'd have to be talking about one of those unfathomable scenarios like...Hayward + Sap for Harden + filler. Just never going to happen.

Hayward's a shaky shooter, but he needs to spend all summer honing his driving game. He'll never have the first step to break a guy down off the dribble like Harden or Ginobili (or even Burks), but he can be very good in the PnR game. The big thing is a stop jumper in the lane. He's never going to be great getting all the way to the rim, but he doesn't have to. He has height. That 5-7 footer is the key for him just like the step back jumper propelled Sap.

I'd like to see him have chuck a bit more. Even when he is shooting really well from deep, he still barely attempts any per game. I thought it was pretty telling when Ginobili complimented Hayward's game, but said something along the lines that he needs to work on his shooting consistency.

Yes. I said this awhile back. Someone needs to pull Hayward aside (Corbin, you ***, you need to do this) and tell him to shoot the ball every time he touches it. Once Hayward gets the confidence to take the shot and make it, or get fouled, he will be very, very good.

That trade actually makes some sense for both teams imo.

Just look at the way Popovich handles players like Danny Green: if that dude doesn't take an open shot from the spots on the floor on which he is designed to get them, then he gets yanked. You shoot your shots. Shoot them.

Hayward can score from many different spots on the floor, and can get other players involved. Great. I still think he needs to pick 2 or 3 spots that he is really comfortable and the coaches need to make sure that he gets to them and has full-on green light to take it. He should be expected to take it.

This has been one of my biggest gripes with the jazz offense. It isn't helping Hayward very much at all, IMO.

And, yeah, Hay isn't untouchable, but he's not going anywhere.

Not really. I'm throwing crap at the wall. KOC would never deal for Harden at that price without being assured of Harden signing an extension. And that deal leaves us with Burks who would either have to be able to play the 1 or be redundant. So it's a bad deal unless KOC had several others lined up.

You could sub Burks into that deal, and I might do that, but personally I'm higher on Burks than Hayward.

That's what makes Pop great: He puts all his players in a position to succeed. Yes, it helps when your roster is full of smart basketball players like the Spurs, but Ty seems a little too eager trying to force round pegs into square holes. Hopefully the FO attempts to acquire smarter, more well rounded basketball players, and Ty does a better job thinking outside the box moving forward.

I think Burks has more talent, but that would be a huge risk. You know that Hayward's floor is a lot higher than Burk's floor, but I think Burk's ceiling is higher, unless he can't develop a three. I think I would trade Burks before Hayward.

Hayward and Sap for Harden/filler would never happen, but it's not because the Jazz shouldn't. Who cares if he signs an extension or not? Jazz would own his rights and should be prepared to offer the max anyway.

That is probably the only Hayward OR Millsap trade idea that I'd be firmly behind.

Im going to have to say Hayward is the shizznitt. He wont be traded. LMFAO if you think they are going to let him go.

But to answer yout question. Yes, he has a lot of trade value. I bet he could get you in maybe the top 7 of this draft or maybe more.

Everything about Burks is better than Hayward. I would much sooner trader Hayward than Burks.

Isn't this what is now happening to the Nets? Why would we repeat that mistake? Especially since we indirectly caused it to happen to them?

Yeah not often Jazz players get praise and he seemed to be getting good chatter from the national media heads.

I do not think he's untouchable but don't think the Jazz are looking to trade him especially in just his 2nd year and FIRST time in the playoffs. He has played horribly I think after last game he is around or just under 20% from the floor (his FT% is awesome at 100%) and despite this I think this should be a good learning processes in his growing as a player at help with an off season to reflect and work on his game.

...?

The Jazz would own Harden's rights. He would be a restricted free agent. The Jazz would hold the cards. They would own him outright if they were prepared to offer the max (they should have an offer prepared right NOW). Deron is an unrestricted free agent if he so chooses it.

And Hayward is way better than Burks right now. Not even in the same league. That could change.
