Does Lauri Get Traded?

IMO if the Warriors decide to trade for Lauri, this would mean that they are trying hard to compete. Thus... anyone they consider important part of their rotation they will try to keep. Podz was their 5th highest MPG player last year and he was a rookie. With Klay gone, this will open even more opportunities for him and they will need him even more than last year. Kuminga is in a similar spot(in fact he played just barely less minutes per game than Podz). IMO the Warriors will consider both of them key to their contention and they will try hard to keep both of them. Kind of like Minny offered even more picks so they can keep McDaniels.

With that said... if there is an offer we accept, I can see it being like... ALL of their picks + Moody + filler...

Just my 2 cent...
Meh, the tie breaker would be we get Moody and Pods AND take Wiggins giving them some cap relief to pick up waiver wire vets.

Don't forget the Warriors have already signed some replacement type players. We have a couple more they can have if they want. I'm not interested in doing the Warriors favors.

Wiggins is a fairly negative contract. No thank you.

And he will be required on the take-back for salary matching if Lauri signs the R&E.

I think a lot of this actually comes down to how much the Warriors value Wiggins because if they want to keep him the pressure goes up the closer we get to August 6th but if they’re trying to dump him on us then they’ll just hold off and maybe come back in a few months.

Nothing ground breaking, they think it comes down to either Kuminga or Podz + Moody + the Warriors draft control for the future. They think Markkanen is a perfect fit for what the Warriors want to do. They also are not sure if it places them firmly into the top 4 in the West or not.

Lowe personally didn't think it was the move, but said he often tends conservative on these situations.

Let’s just not trade Lauri and call it good. I’m ready for the talk around this team to be about something else. We can suck with Lauri still on the team, and then pair him with our 2025 pick(s). Lauri’s a star that actually wants to be here, so let’s keep him and tell everyone we’re keeping him.

Pelton did go into the 2025 draft and how good it could be. They discussed teams don't want to get better. I thought it was pretty interesting that Pelton talked through the draft. For those that don't believe in the 2025 draft being good... just know a lot of the league does and the guys that cover the league have taken note. It is not just draft nerds.

He basically zeroes in on the package I’ve been talking about (Lauri for Podz OR Kumbuckets O’neale + 5-6 years of controlling the Warriors draft), is it worth it or not for the Warriors (probably so because 1. You’re not contending in six years or now if you don’t push in; 2. Do it for Steph).

They tended to discuss JK as the hypothetical piece more, probably because the Warriors really need Podz a lot more because JK and Lauri probably push them into the second apron the next year and they need a guard.

Seems like the battle lines are drawn. Warriors are willing to give up all the picks or give up Podz, but not both. Of course the Jazz are asking for both, we'll see if anyone blinks.

Throw in Brice? Don’t take Moody?

But yeah, sounds correct.

Brice has no value to the Warriors.

Nothing was said about Moody, but tbh I think he's the best "value" out of the Warriors young guys if we're removing stuff from the trade to keep them in. He's still young, valuable archetype, and Kerr doesn't favor him.

Brice would have value. He's a rookie contract under team control and he has NBA talents.

DA won’t subtract. They can give us pods and teh picks or he stays. There will be no subtraction.
