That one is being held up by trying to find a Westbrook home. Understanding how much bad money they are offloading determines how much they pay versus maybe going in with another team. Could also expand with is taking more salary cuz of not needing a Lauri extension I suppose.
That cant really be it? If they havent found the Russ home yet, then it's not going to happen?

Yeah, just a meager 5.2 BPM while playing 74 games.

And you are giving them Lauri Markkanen.....

We have seen vets want to go to GS to play with Curry. They are going to be very good and you got people such as yourself who are ok taking a soft-line just to deal Lauri.
I'm not saying Curry isn't still a great player but you are ignoring your eyes if you think he is as good of a player now as he was 2 years ago. If I can control 5 or 6 years worth of picks for a team whose best player is 36 years old then I'm feeling pretty damn good. Also who are these impactful vets that have been going to GS to play with Curry outside of KD? I can't really think of any.

Sure it can. It may not even be finding him a home through trade. Might be finding a team that is willing to sign him after he is bought out. There are offsets with this stuff.

It could also be that we are more willing to take on more salary in the deal if we aren't using our space.

Knowing how much bad salary we eat would determine how many picks are moved our way.

I always thought a lot of stuff gets done at Summer League when everyone is together and can talk. I was kind of expecting to hear about some stuff by now, but I guess not.

So it is waiting on the Lauri deal then....

He's still producing like a top 20 guy, what do you think is going to happen when you pair him with another top 20 (capable) guy.

It was the impact of Klay that was missing... and also largely Dray who was suspended for like third of their games.

Steph never did it alone. Its the others who havent been up to the level they used to be at.
Steph didn't do it alone but he is also 36 and the west is a bear right now. You look around and all these teams are geared up for this season with a bunch primed for longer term runs. The margin between being a top 4 seed and a borderline play in team seems razor thin to me this year and probably for another few years going forward.

I do wonder if we could combine a couple deals together.

Lauri to the Warriors
Dunn and Clarkson to the Clippers
Westbrook and Coffey to the Nuggets

Jazz get the Warriors package plus assets from both Clippers/Nuggets for taking on Tucker’s and Nnaji’s salary.

Warriors sound like they aren't going to play ball:

Lacob:
As have been chronicled, we have been going after a couple different people. Big additions.
There are 3 ways to get better in this league: One is through the draft, another is free agency, and the final one is trades. Trades are the hardest. It’s very, very hard to pull off trades because all these GMs want to prove how smart they are. They want to impress their owners.
But here’s the problem: If there’s something I’d like to share with the fans, it’s that they don’t understand how hard it is — and how illogical some of the parties on the other side are sometimes — to pull these things off.
