So it is waiting on the Lauri deal then....
It could be… I’ve offered a few different hold ups. Pointing to one over the other is guessing. Guess how you like… there are a few potential holdups.

My God, this dude really gets off on sniffing his own farts. Complaining about GM's wanting to prove how smart they are is a textbook projection. Everytime this dude opens his mouth its to try and prove how smart he is.
Yeah lol. "Fans are so stupid and just don't understand how other GMs want the farm for a star player because they're trying to be smart" seems to be a rather circular argument rife with both projection and hypocrisy.

He also clearly hates Ainge lol.

Nevermind the numbers I suppose. I think it comes down to motivations and preferred directions. Warriors pick future and Moody is fair but its at the bottom of the fairness window. Podz+Moody+picks is at the top of the fairness window imo. Lauri wants to be here (supposedly). We will sign him to an extension. So if you want us to move then you have to go to the top of the window. I think we can get the equivalent of Moody+picks elsewhere next year if we want.

I think we seem to be actually committed to being bad this year... so I do think we would do some other things to ensure we are bottom 5.
Here's my issue with the "other things to ensure we are bottom 5": We have too many good, young veterans but only one player that will return a ridiculous package which is the only language Ainge speaks. He's not going to get a worthy return on Sexton, let alone thumping another team like Danny makes a point to do, and I'm not sensing a robust market on Kessler, either (and the smoke signals have completely died on the Jazz's side).

TLDR; I don't think we can be bottom-five with all of Lauri, Kessler, and Sexton and only Lauri is going to grab the haul that Ainge operates in terms of. And yes, Moody + rights to all of GSW's 1sts is a haul even if it isn't enough.

To be fair in the full quote he says that they may also be illogical.

He's not going to sign until the 24 hours have passed and he cant be traded.
They will probably know that ahead of time (Lauri doesn't seem deceitful at all) and it will probably precipitate a trade (maybe be the determining factor, which will be why we should probably just stop paying attention to this for another couple of weeks.

I think those are very generous windows in the Jazz favor, but we'll see. Simply looking at our position before/after the trade, I think we are in a better position if we trade for Moody and all the picks. That's how I set my hard line, that's what I would accepts. And again, for anyone out there, I am not larping as Ainge negotiating with the Warriors.....I'm just say that is a deal I would say yes to.

If Shams is accurate, we likely already have the Moody + all picks offer on the table (he didn't mention Moody, but lets just assume he's in there). I'm fine taking that offer and I don't think it's somehow a non-starter if we can't get Podz or if we have to drop some pick compensation for him. Tank+Lauri is valid option, but I like the reported trade options better.

Are you saying you think that if Lauri doesnt agree to sign within the window that makes him tradeable for the final day of the trade deadline, the Jazz will choose to trade him without the extension?

I think it moves them off the fence that they're stradling. Similarly, if he says he'll sign it day-of then they'll probably just do that.

There's no sign of that....
Only Lebron has played relevant past age 38 and Curry ain't Lebron. He might get to 39 or 40 but he will be 43 in 2030. He isn't immortal.

But to your point; that's why I just toss 2025 out. Least likely asset to help either the Jazz or Warriors so just take it out of the headline.

Curry will play the 2028-2029 season at age 40 and 41 (march birthday), not 43.
