The main reason I see for a Kessler trade is that the Jazz just don't want to move forward having to play offense around someone as limited as Kessler

It's one thing to do it for a GOAT like Gobert, but for a guy like Kessler? Ehhhhhhhhhhh
I doubt there is a huge market for him now though.

IND was mentioned, I think that's kind of interesting. They can't trade all their picks, but they can trade 29+31 and have Mathurin + Walker.

I'm still a huge Jarace Walker believer....I was a huge fan of Mathurin in the draft, but he's kind of an iffy prospect at this point. One of the players who analytics hates the most.

I highly doubt the stomach the risk of Lauri walking.
I mean they stomached the "risk" with an expiring Siakam just this last season.

Not crazy about Mathurin, Jarace is interesting. From a purely basketball enjoyment factor I would love Lauri on Indiana if we have to trade him just so I don't have to root for a GS or OKC or whatever. But that package does not excite me much at all, though we know Ainge was higher on Jarace than Hendricks

I also think the Knicks package was overrated while the GSW package that was reported was underrated.

Like could you buy Podz using the Knicks 2025 and Bucks 2025, both projected to be in the 20+ range?

If the answer is "no" or "maybe barely", then we are already pretty much on even ground.
I think Podz is low-key the best asset in the deal (and most harmful for GSW to part with because they need players that have playmaking chops). He doesn't get to the line, but he was 40/50 from the field, had a +DBPM, and had a solid assist rate at a 3:1 assist-to-turnover ratio as a rookie and rookies by-and-large are bad.

We have about a month left of being able to bluff. I felt differently about the Mitchell situation...right now I think the Jazz need to make some tanktastic moves and I feel like something needs to happen soon. If not trading Lauri, should probably have some Sexton/Kessler deals ready to roll.

In any trade we make, I don't think it's worth it to try to eek out another bad first or whatever.
We have more picks than we'll actually be able to use at this point. Having rounds in the chamber is of course great, but the best hay is made at the top of the draft.

Gambo in Phoenix says at least two teams offered two firsts for Walker. One has to be NY… curious who the other was. Says Phoenix isn’t interested.

I think we HAVE to get rid of Clarkson, even if we have to give up a second rounder.
I actually think he's the vet to keep. Good tank commander, "cool" player, good vibes. Play him at the 3 if that's what it takes to open up some time for the kids (more opportunities for losing, too).

I can get behind keeping Lauri since he is such a rare (1 of 1?) archetype, but if we're serious about tanking "right" then I get nervous about how long this process is gonna take in relation to his age.
I think we can actually flip it around really quick if we land a top 4 pick and get the blue chip guy in the door. Depends on how much we hang on to and how the young players develop... but if we have cap flexibility, Lauri, Blue Chip guy and infinity picks I think there are some "shortcuts" available. Like if we wanted Young or Ingram this offseason we could have gotten them. There are some guys in the 40-60 best player in the league range that can be had these days. Derozan would have been another. I think there are some bridge guys that could have us firmly in the play in... but we have to have that guy with All-NBA potential to pair with Lauri.

If you don't land in a spot you feel great about on draft night next year I think you could trade Lauri for a top ten pick and some stuff... depending on if there is a team in the lotto that is looking for a big boost now.

If I am Lauri I also wouldn't fully trust GS management if they start making promises. They got cheap on Klay so the "trust me bro" would ring a bit hollow.
Well, they also got cheap cuz they probably know better than anyone how deep the problems are with his leg(s) and it also sounds like he was a cloud hanging over the organization.

Locke said on today’s show that word on the street is we’re turning down some huge offers for Markkanen.
Maybe we’re keeping him?

In no situation where both parties are rational is there a real possibility that Lauri walks with the possibility of an R&E that can give him a $24 million raise on just this season (and the Jazz are still way under the salary floor).
