I was all for Lauri trade before, but I'm actually thinking now both Flip and Hendricks could be so nice fits with him and possibly quite good in 2-3 season so... I say **** that trade. Try get Hardy fOr one season aboard on the tank playing atrocious defensive lineups for the bench minutes, go 25 wins, get high pick, and build. Trade Kessler if needed, you take him out of the equation, the defensive rotations will be significantly worse for winning ball. Hardy is great, but not a magician.

If Podz ever took a star turn, I would assume it looks like Haliburton, so that's why I did the side by side basic stats. I dont think he is going to make a star turn fwi.

Oddly enough, Podz efficiency is way worse with Curry on the court (57% TS vs 50% TS), but that appears to be almost entirely due to 3 point shooting variance. I do think he's a very nice player, don't see this future all star hype. I also think he's inherently more valuable to a contending team than a tanking team, so I would understand trying to find a way without him.
I don’t understand the love or value in Podz. Don’t get me wrong he’s a good player but I highly doubt he ever achieves allstar status. Im no longer interested in trading Lauri. Play him, sexton and the kudos for top 5 lotto odds.

I guess the most charitable view of Podz upside is that he's a cross between Josh Hart (very similiar measurements and athleticism, both elite tier guard rebounders and good defenders) and Tyrese Haliburton (shooting and feel for game).

Podz is real similar to Divencenzo to me, and I freaking love Divencenzo. I don't see the crazy upside though.

For as much as we **** on Keyonte for being inefficient, he had more or less the same scoring efficiency as Podz. Podz does a lot of things besides shooting/scoring....but he was still FAR below league average efficiency on a low volume/highly assisted shot diet.

I don't think Podz is an all-star... I just wouldn't completely dismiss it. He's smart... clearly sees the game well and is intuitive. Leads the league in charges taken and rebounds so well for a smaller nba player. He doesn't like mirror one guy perfectly but if he made it there are shades of Brunson/Haliburton etc. I'd say that like a top 1% outcome of course. Maybe he peaks out as like a Derrick White glue guy all star type.

The biggest swing is just learning to get to the FT line and getting the usage.

Maybe so... I just think AS is such a high bar now. That's probably more of where my quibble is.

Look, I remember having a discussion with @Tony Jones about Cody’s value in the draft as a top four prospect. Because there aren’t many wings with his size handles and shooting. So far I’m not seeing the handles with him, but I think he could be really good and big time cog on this team. Then with that same perspective. Filip is probably the most talented big in this draft as far as the combo of length handles playmaking and shooting. So why shouldn’t I be more giddy about the fact he’s got the note on his jersey?
You haven't seen the handles? That's interesting. Cody has been creating off the dribble in Vegas, pretty much at will. And more impressively, he's been doing it at like 170 pounds, which means it's 100 percent skill

He’s also lost or fumbled the ball on multiple occasions on straight line drives, he’s taken advantage of opportunities and seems like an elite slasher and finisher in summer league. Let’s see how he holds up in the actual league. I’ve also noticed he has to give up his dribble when engaged with his defender. I have seen little change of direction. I see little to no ISO game in him.

Im not trying to dump on him or be a hater. I think he’s going to take advantage holes in the defense, space the floor and finish at the rim. Good things happen when he does drive successfully when he’s able to control his dribble. And play good defense.

It almost looks like he’s too long and skinny for his own good. I just don’t see an iso game. He can’t be the guy you get the ball to, to save your team against the shot clock.

There’s a lot of good about him. I’ve watched every second of both summer leagues. There’s things to like about both Cody and Collier but there’s some flaws, obviously Filip has flaws too but they seem less glaring. Players like Filip are the hardest to come by. All the teams that have some form of him are all the top offenses in the league. In a couple years he, Lauri and Hendricks could be a lethal front court, adding Kessler gives us another look on both sides of the court.

Either way it’s super exciting, we need to just resign Lauri and build off that. The talent is still coming in.

But for reals, I think Filipowski is such a luxury. It means you can go out and get guys like Kuminga and play them effectively. I like the idea of having him and Kessler so you can play different styles/lineups and they can play together.
Kessler is a guy that can help you get regular season wins, but a guy like Filipowski might end up being more valuable in the playoffs. I think you need both guys when building out a roster.
