Ya I mean the fact that the jazz were up 3-0 on a very good Denver team and up 2-0 against the clippers and the number 1 seed and 3 all stars and 6th men of the year etc etc shows that the roster was very good.DL was not responsible for losing after being up 3-0 on Denver. Or the Clippers dropping 81 pts in the second half after being down by 25. That's on Quin, gents.
The Jazz had that defensive stopper in the system last year in Kyle Collinsworth but he's older and doesn't fit the FO's metrics. He would have shut Mann down cold. Collinsworth does have warts but DL can pat himself on the back for letting him go.I think the roster decisions and failing to bring in a defensive wing with some length reflects more on the front office than the coach. I would have liked to see the Jazz give some developmental minutes to Jarrell Brantley for this reason, but I don't know what's going on inside the team. Niang wasn't playable against the Clippers' long, switching defenders, but Brantley might have had some impact.
The Jazz blew multiple big leads because of poor defense and turnovers. And it's not like what the Clippers were doing was that break-through or unexpected. I mean, the way the Jazz were shooting the ball in Game 5, how do you lose that one? And at a certain point of Game 6, say when Terrance Mann already has 20 pts, why can't we make a defensive adjustment?
I think Coach Quin will get off the hook because key guys were injured. The Clippers were able to attack Mitchell, Conley and even Gobert in Game 6 because they were all hobbled. But after Game 2, when the Clippers committed to going small, the Jazz never really got stops. The Denver series a year ago was eerily similar. Clearly there is a problem with perimeter defense. The over-reliance on Gobert to anchor the defense doesn't hold in a 7-game series against a versatile team.
Yeah but with one giant gaping hole they haven't even made an attempt to fill.Ya I mean the fact that the jazz were up 3-0 on a very good Denver team and up 2-0 against the clippers and the number 1 seed and 3 all stars and 6th men of the year etc etc shows that the roster was very good.

I think of bringing back Igor as a head coach! He knows system, have experience as a head coach in Phoenix and now is coaching Fenerbahce where real defence is playd! I don't understand how a good coach is watching hundreds of threes from the corner and do nothing to stop it! Why everybody has to shoot a three when Rudy is alone in the paint!but wHo ElSe WoUlD tHe JaZz HiRe?
We've seen this take place a million times in the NBA and it work out - Dwayne Casey, Mark Jackson, Avery Johnson, Doc Rivers, Brett Brown ... coaches leading playoff teams get canned all the time to become better. Yet we think Snyder is prime Phil Jackson.
That's why i never get those sayings thatThere are people higher on my list of who to blame than Quin, namely the front office that somehow built a roster that was a tough defensive team with no shooters, then overreacted and built a roster that was an offensive glass cannon with only one real defender. I honestly can’t think of any other team that’s done that in such a short amount of time, if it all, with the same coach.
Quin made both versions of those Frankenstein rosters work. Both had fatal flaws, neither were built to win a title.
I also don’t think there’s anyone better available. Carlisle *maybe.*
Well i mean if quin just does one single adjustment in game 6 then we very well might have advanced to the WCF even with this roster and the gaping hole. And i think with homecourt advantage and no small ball to deal with we could get past the suns and could beat the sixers or bucks.Yeah but with one giant gaping hole they haven't even made an attempt to fill.
So you are saying that quin made adjustment from defense oriented to offense oriented but the FO stayed one dimensional? So quin got rid of rubio, crowder, exum, and neto and quin acquired bojan, conley, clarkson, and niang? That's why i never get those sayings that
"QUIN NEVER ADJUST"
Come on now.
Quin has made the ULTIMATE ADJUSTMENT as a coach.
That is to go from a defensive oriented team that we were just two seasons ago, to one of the best three point shooting teams of all time.
How can one look at a team filled with Bojan, Conley, Clarkson and Niang, and tell me there is zero adjustment from the one featuring Rubio, Crowder, Exum and Neto??????
It's not Quin's fault that he has to deal with a one-dimensionally orientated FO who can't look at the game from different prospects. But he's been handed with two very different groups of players and was able to make both work.
If that doesn't reflect positively on his adaptability and flexibility as a coach, i don't know what does.
When were we up 3-0?We have the roster. We were up 3-0. We were up 25 and they dropped 81 in a half without their best player. These are not roster collapses they are coaching fails.
When were they up 3-0?Ya I mean the fact that the jazz were up 3-0 on a very good Denver team and up 2-0 against the clippers and the number 1 seed and 3 all stars and 6th men of the year etc etc shows that the roster was very good.
