What's new

Donald is about to go through some things...

This is what you consider “incoherent gibberish”?

You complain about conservatives not coming on here and debating policies and ideas. Trump is doing that in this clip. It’s not hard to follow along. He is ripping the idea of having electric tanks because of weather, distance, weight and size while trying to make a couple of jokes.

I would debate you on this subject right now. I’m not for electric tanks at all, not until there is much more improvement in battery technology. I agree with him on all these factors.

Just because Trump says something, your opinion will be the complete opposite. Your response to this idea that diesel tanks are better than electric tanks is put the person who thinks diesel is better into nursing homes or hospice.

You didn’t even debate the factors he brought up. You could have went with it would reduce the cost (human and moving) of logistics of diesel in war zones. Or could have went with a hybrid solution.

If you want to debate, don’t use MAGA, Trump or any other scary right wing word. Just debate on facts or the context of what the other person is saying.

Did anyone say they were for electric tanks? I could see the idea being discussed of some military vehicles being electric, keeping in mind the hundreds of thousands of vehicles our military has, but tanks?

This is probably more of Trump trying to divide our country.

Can I try?

Why do you generally say that Trump said to "stick a flashlight up your ***" when that is not what he said?

Obviously he tested his brilliant groundbreaking medical breakthrough on himself by sticking a Maglite where the sun don't shine. People from MIT(or who once heard about MIT) know these things.
  • "Suppose that we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light," Trump said at the White House coronavirus press briefing, adding: "Supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way."

We all saw the video. Trump suggested we shine light and inject people with disinfectant. It was an absurd and dangerous solution to Covid. Anything to downplay the virus in hopes of it helping his reelection campaign. I’ve (and I’m not the only one on here) said, “stick a flashlight up your ***” as a form of humor, not as a form of deception, as Trump uses. Whether Trump literally told people to shove flashlights down their mouths or up their asses or just use a light to kill off the virus in some sort of open chest irradiation doesn’t change the fact that his ranting are that of a deranged person. Nothing I’ve said significantly changes anything, unlike Trump, who makes stuff up and lies constantly to promote a certain anti-American narrative.

Wait, why is the focus on me?

Why aren’t we addressing how absurd it is that Trump is going on these rants in videos that I’ve posted about and reporting articles I’ve posted and the focus shines on me? I’m not running for the White House. And we shouldn’t let Trump supporters, like @Bucknutz successfully filibuster arguments against Trump’s election to turn the focus on other posters. Trump is the deranged rapist and felon who’s promoting white grievance narratives who’s running for the White House, not me.
Trump was using qualifiers, like UV light can kill COVID so maybe we should look into the possibility of using that on people, like through the skin (not up the ***). Are you not able to see how the way your acting contributes to the toxicity? I get that it's intended to be humorous, but when directed at a person you disagree with it's antagonistic more than funny. Trumpers do it all the time with their silly insulting names for people, calling everything they don't like woke, or socialism, or MSM bias, or the LGBT agenda.

You're really being as obtuse and intellectually dishonest as the worst of the Trumpers with Bucknuts.

Look I'm sorry, your/our side holds their own accountable. That's not going to happen with the Trumpers, but with the never Trumpers it will.

When did I say that the military would make tanks that don’t work?

In a war zone, with the technology we have now, would you rather have diesel or electric tanks?

How less efficient is the electric tank in sub temperatures compared to diesel tanks?

In an emergency, both need to refuel or recharge, which one is quicker?
What I'm saying is that Donald and yourself are complaining about battery powered tanks.
Why though? Did the military make battery powered tanks that are failing on the battlefield? Are they planning too? If the answer is no, then why the complaining about it?
Why even bring it up?
I'm guessing it was brought to for the reason he brings most things up. To make people mad at his perceived enemies.

You agreeing with trump on this "issue" (that doesn't exist) would be like if trump said "I don't think we should use electric airplane to travel to space" and you were like "ya, I agree with trump!"

Doesn't make much sense

I'm not understanding the issue here. What is intellectually dishonest about joking that The Rapist said to stick a flashlight up your ***? His schtick(which in his megalomania was actually him thinking he was smarter than scientists and doctors) was absolutely preposterous at the time. People were losing parents, wives, husbands, children to this virus and the world was panicking and we have Trump up there with the heads of Covid policy in an incredibly serious press conference throwing out complete and utter BS. What an affront to those being heavily impacted while Trump as President couldn't be bothered to take it seriously.

I guess because the exact wording isn't being used. He never said shine a flashlight up your butt.
He said to use UV light to shine through the skin or something (I'm just going off memory from years ago so I might be off a little on the wording/phrasing)

See when being critical of trump you must be precise, specific, fair, honest etc. Even though trump is never those things when he talks about something/someone.

Anyone not named trump has to follow a different set of rules

The "some other way" was obviously his way of saying, "shove that Trump 45 Eradicator flashlight up your *** and say goodbye to that snowflake virus!" Only available on Trump.com for the low one-time offer of $199.99 or 10 payments of $29.99.

That's not at all what I'm saying. Bucknuts tried having a conversation but Thriller couldn't switch out of hyperbole mode that would be appropriate amongst like minded people and engage civilly with someone with different views but a willingness to exchange ideas.

i'm not so sure that clown is intellectually dishonest as just not very bright and incredibly non self aware. It's hilarious that almost all the bile he spews out is utter projection for the own behaviour he indulges in. Only person i've ever put on ignore on a forum.

Who specifically are you talking about? I really want to know which poster you’re referring to?

And why exactly? Because I didn’t quote Trump perfectly? Because I asked Buck to be accurate and honest? Because i asked him to answer @fishonjazz’s question? Something he never did, for obvious reasons.

It’s really unfair the way we are framing things here. One side can disparage cities, the majority of the population, just all out lie, while the other side is expected to quote and frame everything perfectly or else theyre labeled as being hyperbolic and toxic. As someone who lives in a very red state, I see my “political tribe” slandered every day. You see it, right now. I support developing hybrid and electric vehicles and I’m attacked for hurting our security and safety. Yet, you don’t see me supporting or defending a rapist felon left wing authoritarian who promises to be a dictator.

And rather than debate Trump’s derangement, we’re attacking each other.

I wanted to add this instead of creating a new post.

Gift article. Since I’ve obviously failed at setting this debate up, let’s read this article and debate this subject.

You’re so hyperbolic. Trump didn’t exactly say that. This is really toxic and offensive. Please apologize or else I’m going to support a man who pledges to be dictator. See what you made me do?

Btw, happy Father’s Day!

I don't think you're as bad as steak and eggs but you're certainly no better than AI-O-Meter

I think you're toxic.

I think you're too emotionally invested in the Democratic Party. I think you engage in very binary thinking. I don't think you take a sophisticated approach to these issues, I think you take a tribalistic approach to these issues.

I agree with you almost all of the time, but I seldom enjoy the toxicity you inject in your message. I often get turned off by your party loyalty. I don't want to be like left of center version of MAGA, but that is exactly how I see you.

Of course I engage in binary thinking. One party wants to end American democracy and empower a dictator. I don’t love the Democratic Party and Biden wasn’t my first choice. But have you seen what Republicans are trying to do to the country? Christian theocracy will not be fun. Have you seen who republicans are worshipping?

Tell me you were different when Bush Jr. was president and then we can take this post seriously.

Challenge accepted!

I voted for Bush in 2004 in the first election I could vote in and (regretfully) voted for Utah’s own gay marriage ban that same year. Education, life experience, and the changing of the political parties have impacted my political views in the last 20 years. I also voted for Romney in 2012 over Obama and have overwhelmingly voted Republican in the past at the local level (govs huntsman and Herbert). So yeah, not exactly this ideologue you think. Instead of attacking me for having a binary way of thinking in 2024, perhaps the question should be why I think this way in 2024 and have changed so much over the past 12 and 20 years respectively? This also fits with the our own media’s blind spot concerning Biden voters. When was the last time Biden voters were interviewed in diners? Why aren’t people asking Biden supporters why they continue to support him? Is it because they belong to a cult, are toxic ideologies, or ignorant? Perhaps there’s a reason for their way of thinking?

I do think there are principles of conservatism that I can get behind. But what we’re seeing from the GOP over the last 10 years isn’t conservatism. I’d love for conservatives on here to debate ideas. Instead, they have this need to defend Trump. As we’ve seen today, it doesn’t matter the topic. They’ll tie themselves up in knots to defend Trump and turn the arguments on the messengers rather than debate an issue on its own merits. Which is again why I’m having to defend myself rather than us debating Trump’s unhinged rants and the danger that mind poses to our country and planet.

It’s not my place to ask you or Buck to actually do anything. But I do wish you’d ask “why” more. Instead of running to our tribal battle stations, ask the other poster why and for the responder to be vulnerable and honest enough to explain why.

I mean be a party loyalist all you want. I'm not going to follow you there.

I'm not a party loyalist at all, but I disagree with your take on Thriller.

This isn't about electric tanks, it's a straw man argument made by The Rapist to further engage the culture war so that come election time Trumptards are so riled up they are willing to not just attack the Capitol, but fellow Americans. This is definitely not about electric tanks. BTW is there a report somwewhere that the military is building electric tanks? But that's really beside the point.

The Thriller made his point right here and I think it's the crux of this conversation:

"2. Something both you and AL do a lot of and it’s dishonest, is remove context. This isn’t the first time Trump has rifted about electric tanks. Having non-tactical hybrid vehicles on base for transportation doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Yet, Trump exaggerates and lies, and makes it sound like our “woke military that loves LGBTs and blacks is now selling out our security for electric battle tanks while other less woke militaries continue to use good old fashioned manly fossil fuel powered tanks. Libs are weak impotent green queers!” There’s valuable MAGA context here that fuels his populism (fascism tbh). He’s not debating the merits of hybrid or electric powered vehicles. He’s using this as yet another point in his culture war. He’s creating a narrative that “MAGA strong people use fossil fuels while the other side uses dumb impotent wimpy unrealistic forms of energy. And I bet they also use vaccines, love gays, use wimpy shower heads, are black, etc.”

I mean be a party loyalist all you want. I'm not going to follow you there.
I take issue with this. When one party wants to end American democracy and the other doesn’t, for sake of our constitution we need you to follow us to the pro-democratic side. There can be plenty of time to debate what the perfect tax rate on billionaires should be. Right now however, that’s not the issue. The issue is whether we are going to empower Trump and the ideologues that want I replace American democracy with fascism.
