What's new

Donald is about to go through some things...

You mean like the dems did in Arizona after r v w? It’s the cool thing to do now days.
What did the dems do? You provided zero information and zero links. Well done.

I have long taken the position that I don't necessarily have a problem with criminal prosecution of Trump so long as it is in a criminal court but I also think it is a colossally stupid thing to do because the damage it would do to the fabric of the nation far outweighs any potential benefit. I have even said in this thread the raid on Mar-o-Lago was probably legal. I simply believe that it would have been better for the nation if the government had pursued this with more lawyers behind the scenes and fewer machine guns in front of cameras.

If I'm wrong and the government can keep doing what it does then I'm not happy but oh well. If I'm not wrong, how may people are going to have to die before you decide that maybe lowering the temperature on the rhetoric and open aggression is the wiser course of action? Is there a number? Does it not matter so long as you can justify the deaths in your head and it hurts more of the people you don't like than the ones you do? What is it going to take for you to think that maybe we should take a beat to think about the consequences before proceeding with a thing we can do because it is legal to do?
The more rational thing to do would to simply stop worshipping a stupid idiot and stop demonizing anyone or anything that goes against the stupid idiot. Maybe we should all join as one in allowing the stupid idiot to get punished for wrongdoing. Nah, lets just let trump do whatever he wants and then the right and the left will hold hands and sings songs of peace.

Its like this: Law enforcement kneels on a handcuffed dudes neck for 9 minutes until he is dead. BACK THE BLUE! BLUE LIVES MATTER!
Law enforcement asks a man to return stolen property. The man returns some of it but not all of it. Law enforcement issues a subpeona to return the rest of the stolen property. The man tells law enforcement to go screw themselves. Law enforcement gathers evidence and information and takes it to a judge to get a search warrant. Law enforcement uses the search warrant to retrive the stolen property and doesn't even charge the man or arrest him or anything. The man is just fine. Untouched, rich, and beloved by many. ATTACK LAW ENFORCEMENT! LAW ENFORCEMENT IS EVIL!

Pretty strange priorities.

Umm. Nuclear?

Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former president Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Monday, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Imagine if Obama/Clinton were found with classified documents on our nuclear weapons? I bet Fox News and posters like Al would totally be defending the Clintons and Obamas right now…

****** people. Just ******

those who charge that Attorney General Merrick Garland was acting out of political partisanship must consider two things: These headlines overshadowed President Biden's victory lap for his big win in Congress on a landmark bill addressing both the climate crisis and health care. He was just as blindsided by Garland's search as the rest of us, and can't be happy about seeing his moment of triumph upstaged. The White House clearly meant for Wednesday morning's news of legislative successes to be a major turning point for Democratic prospects in the midterms.

At the same time, Biden got exactly what he sought when he named Garland his AG: A chief legal officer who would not consult him and who would put his head down and do his job, independent of politics.

consider the dangerous and hypocritical attacks on law enforcement by Trump defenders who hold elected office. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., tweeted "Defund the FBI!" Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., referred to the warrant-based search as sponsored by "Marxists," quite likely in an attempt to fire up his voter base among anti-communist Cuban Americans as he runs for re-election.

As for hypocrisy, there is no principled way to demand that the Justice Department investigate Hunter Biden, as Republicans continue to do, and simultaneously to attack the DOJ's independently validated search of Trump's home. To obtain a search warrant for Trump's premises at Mar-a-Lago, federal prosecutors clearly satisfied a federal magistrate that evidence existed that the former president had committed a crime that justified the intrusion.

while the search warrant required a showing of probable cause that a crime had been committed, as a practical matter, the federal magistrate judge who issued the warrant, Bruce Reinhart, almost surely applied a far higher standard of proof.

The target here was no ordinary public official, but rather a former president of the United States. Reinhart understood that the validity of the warrant would surely become public at some point and receive microscopic scrutiny in the media. It will also be reviewed by a district court judge, should Trump be indicted and should the prosecution seek to offer evidence from the search at trial.

No magistrate judge wants to be professionally embarrassed in a high-visibility case. Reinhart surely required the FBI's warrant application to meet the most exacting standards.
Because no magistrate judge wants to be reversed or professionally embarrassed, especially in a high-visibility case, Reinhart would have required the FBI's warrant application to meet the most exacting standards before he approved it. The Aug. 10 report that the FBI had a source for its warrant inside Mar-a-Lago suggests that this judge, a veteran prosecutor with experience in matters of public corruption and then as a criminal defense lawyer, was on extremely solid ground authorizing the search.

Trump faces no constraints about releasing the nonclassified items on the FBI's requisite inventory of what evidence agents collected in the search, a copy of which was left on the premises. If, as Trump claims, the search was purely politically motivated, making that inventory public would serve the public interest in holding the DOJ and FBI accountable.

The longer Trump fails to do so, the stronger two inferences become. First, that his protests about the Mar-a-Lago search are just one more false cry of victimhood. And second, that his future may well hold another opportunity to exercise his Fifth Amendment rights, this one not coming in a civil case but in a criminal one.

Either you live on a different planet or whoever said you were middle-of-the-road misjudged you badly. Here on Earth, the guy who knelt on the guy's neck was arrested, charged, and convicted. On Earth, that guy is now in prison for murder. Here on Earth that event inspired riots, not only nationwide but also internationally, and that civil unrest was on behalf of the victim rather than backing the blue.

As for that guy who "stole" stuff, the government had already come down to Florida to look at all of it. They took back what they wanted and left behind what they didn't consider a high priority but insisted a stronger lock was put on the room serving as the record repository. Sometime later the FBI went to a judge with a list of the stuff they had already looked at and left in the room that now had a stronger lock, and got a search warrant. This search had nothing to do with those documents. They were only the pretext to get investigators on site.

All of the January 6 related charges his political enemies what to prosecute Trump for require proving intent, which is something they so far can't prove. I knew you don't think that because you exist in a reality where the United States rose up in fiery but peaceful riots to defend Derek Chauvin.

Looks like the DOJ wants to release info about the search warrants but trumps team is considering trying to block the release. Lol. Some people were like "hey, the fbi should be providing more information about this!" So the fbi is like "ok, we would like to provide more information about this" Team trump is like "oh crap, wait a minute maybe we dont want that information to be released"

Garland on Thursday said authorities acted by the book -- and he indicated that carrying out his duties required seeking the warrant.

"Faithful adherence to the rule of law is the bedrock principle of the Justice Department and of our democracy. Upholding the rule of law means applying the law evenly without fear or favor," he said. "Under my watch, that is precisely what the Justice Department is doing."

“The search warrant was authorized by a federal court upon the required finding of probable cause,” he said. A court filing from the Justice Department shows it was signed by a judge on Friday.

"A reminder: Trump could have released this paper at any time. He refused," New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler tweeted. "And now DOJ wants you to see it. AG Garland seems to have nothing to hide."

Ah, so you saw what you wanted to see and only what you wanted to see again.
I saw the cop get convicted. I saw the riots. But...... I also saw many of the same people currently going after law enforcement for doing everything by the book in the trump situation and then not even charging him or anything, get pissed off at any criticism of law enforcement stemming from the murder that occured.

And lol at you saying that law enforcement looked at all of the stolen stuff. Like you could have any possible way to know what law enforcement did or did not look at or what trump did or did not provide. That is silly. Cool that you do admit that he stole stuff though. So we do agree that trump is a corrupt crook. Seems strange to be upset at the fbi obtaining a search warrant for the property of a corrupt crook.

And its nice to see you celebrating the fact that the DOJ wants to release the search warrant.

Exactly this!!!

It’s not our ****ing job to coddle and protect the fragile feelings of Trumpers. They’re ****** people who will always have an excuse to defend Trump. Just look at the ****** pro Trump posters on this website who continue to spin this story. They just can’t admit that their Orange god king is a fraud.

Trump could eat a live baby on TV and posters on here would praise him. That’s how far gone these people are. So radical and out of touch.

Wonder why he took this? Wonder if he has shared it over the past 18 months? Who is this guy, really?

right? These are questions that we now must get to the bottom of. Clearly, he’s a huge national security threat. Huge.

Btw, @fishonjazz does stealing classified information about America’s nuclear weapons systems make one unfit for president??? ;)

No. Only people not voting for a candidate makes someone unfit for president.
