I dont get why everyone is talking about classified or declassified. He isn't supposed to take any documents at all. Classified or unclassified. I guess taking classified documents is worse but even unclassified documents are still not allowed to be taken and kept as it pertains to the Espionage Act, which outlaws the unauthorized retention of national security information that could harm the United States or aid an adversary. Note the bold. No mention of classification status. I dont care if he declassified something. If he retained documents of national security info that could harm the US or aid an adversary then LOCK HIM UP!

You mean like the docs taken by Obama, Bush, Clinton etc…. Really do some research as to what former presidents have taken from office and the number of unredacted and redacted files they possess. Lock him up is the same thing the Right is saying about the presidents son. I know….. I didn’t provide you with links and specific language so you can go on your attack now. Pretty easy to look this info up

I’m not backing trump but I’m also waiting to “lock him up” until due process is given. If and when charges are filed and if and when he is proven guilty I will then throw stones. On this point, I think you've got it backwards and it is going to be a huge problem when it comes to prosecution. Every US President since Herbert Hoover has a Presidential library that displays documents from their administration. Your thinking that every single one of those items from every single one of those presidents was not removed from the White House is not reality. Like you seem prone to do, you have invented something you want to be true and are presenting it as fact.

It isn't only Presidents who have taken government documents upon retirement but who are subject to these exact same laws. When all of these Presidents in history, as would be proven by checking chains of custody on all the documents in all the Presidential libraries, and examples from literally thousands of government officials throughout the decades can be shown to have flouted these laws without having been prosecuted for their transgressions, it sets up a rock solid selective prosecution defense. Ether the laws apply to everyone or they don't. The government is now allowed to let everyone off the hook and only prosecute Donald Trump. That is not how law enforcement works. When people describe this as "unprecedented", that is a big problem.

Duh. If you check campaign contributions from lawyers the ratio of donations is about 96% to left wing candidates versus 4% to the right wing. If the ones writing the laws and arguing the laws have such a strong bias, it is only natural the product of their work would itself reflect that bias.

What is new is that law enforcement used to be carried out by those with more of a right wing bias and that somewhat balanced things but that is no longer true. Now if you are a candidate for President who was proved to have improperly handled classified information by having an unauthorized repository at your house and destroyed records after the government requested their return, it is fine if you are a democrat. If you improperly handled classified information by having an unauthorized repository at your house and you are a republican, then it is a raid with machine guns.

This show of unequal application of the government force is what causes civil wars.

This is coming from Thriller who posts Aaron Rupar, New York Times, Daily Beast, msnbc and cnn. He has no depth and cannot have a discussion with someone who disagrees with him, so he will just block you.

This board is leans/Left Wing and I am right there with you in the center.

I see politics split in 5 different parties. Far Left (Bernie/AOC), Lean Left (Biden), Center/Business (Bloomberg/Yang), Lean Right (Pence), Far Right (Trump). So most news comes from the Far Left and Far Right because it's best for business. Moderate is boring.

This board is broken up the same way. Far Left (Thriller/One Brow), Lean Left (Fish, Gameface and LogGrad), Center (Bucknutz), Lean Right (AL) Far Right (JazzyFresh). Most people who post now are on the left side of the spectrum such as the names I listed and Avery, Red, Douchebag K. So it does feel like its a left wing board. I like reading the posts to get the perspective of many opinions.

Congress isn't evenly split. Since both sides are so polarized that, which every party has 1 more person = the far left/right agenda. It might look close but it is not. We need more centric representatives where it can force both parties to reach across the isle.

It should be noted, that Donald and his apologists followed the exact same playbook as they’ve done for every Trump scandal, most notably the Russia investigation and the Zelensky phone call:

1. Deny it ever happened. (Fake news! Let’s focus on Obama/Clinton/Hunter!)

2. Begin to admit it happened but deny its seriousness. (Whoopsies. Guess we did actually meet with Russians at Trump Tower but We only talked about Russian orphans! The docs weren’t anything important like nuclear weapons…)

3. Admit it happened but claim that Trump was too stupid to know that what he was doing was wrong/illegal.

4. Finally, admit it happened. As Mick Mulvaney once said, “Yep, it happened, get over it.” And claim that everyone does it.

We’ve now reached stage 4 in record time. And that’s where MAGA will stand. They’ll claim that everyone breaks the law (they don’t), everyone is just as dirty as Trump (they aren’t), and they’ll maintain this argument until the next crisis erupts and they’ll begin the 4-step process all over again.

And the lowlife Trumpers on this board who lack the character and honesty to admit they’ve been had, will defend their Orange god king all over again. They all look like idiots. And defending such gross criminality and making suck idiotic arguments can’t be healthy.
