Donald is about to go through some things...

Donald Trump reportedly wanted to hold stolen confidential government files hostage in exchange for FBI files on their investigation into his 2106 campaign's ties to the Russians.

Something we can take away from this is that even those around Trump, even his advisers, were not foolish enough to take this so-called deal to Justice Department and to the National Archives.

Because what was put on full display was the fact that he knew what he had, he knew it was material he was not entitled to. Whether it's technically extortion, whether it is some other misconduct, nothing about this is seemly for a former president

He's not entitled to engage in a back-and-forth court to get materials he wants but is not entitled to. This deserves the highest level of scrutiny from the Justice Department and, increasingly its more an issue of when, not if, there will be a prosecution.

Sounds pretty extortiony. He likes his quid pro quo's

Mark Meadows was confused when Bidens white house chief of staff told him that Biden wanted daily intelligence briefings.

In April 2020, The New York Times reported that Trump generally did not complete reading the intelligence reports, as several former intelligence officials told the newspaper at the time that the then-president had a short attention span and was adept at veering off onto different subjects.

In November 2020, after Biden had been declared the president-elect Klain (Bidens chief of staff) informed Meadows that Biden needed to begin getting the daily intelligence briefing. How many days a week is Vice President Biden gonna want this daily brief?" Meadows asked.

Klain was surprised by the question, telling Meadows that Biden — a former chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee during his days in the upper chamber — would want to get a briefing on a daily basis.

Biden also received daily briefings during his time as vice president under then-President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017.

Meadows responded: "No president ever does that. That's never happened."

LOL. The lesson? Trump was an unqualified incompetent lazy idiot.

Loved this from the comments section: After lunch, Kellyanne would read during Storybook Time, then cookies 'n' milk followed by Naptime until Spongebob came on until 5pm. Early dinner would be McDonald's hamberders. Then our strong leader would be in for the evening in front of Hannity, Tucker, and Ingraham until night-night.

This guy is a traitor. The world will be a better place when he’s no longer on it.

Trump needs to be sent to prison. Get rid of him and his poisoning rhetoric. This country hasn’t faced an internal enemy like this since the civil war.

He took them, but the FBI planted them, but he wants them back.

Yep those on the right are very broadly accepting, as long as you're white rich and at least claim to be Christian even if you can't tell when a Bible is upside-down. The right is greatly accepting of all faiths. You can hate blacks, gays, women, Hispanics, Asians, you name it. As long as we can rally around your hate, you're in! Oh and if you're good at playing the poor rich white male victim card, so much the better.

As long as you worship the one true god, greed!!!!!

Trump has the strategic brain of a damn 3 year old. This plan works in zero universes.

Donald Trump insisted that Barack Obama had kept classified documents after leaving the White House. A day later, the National Archives and Records Administration issued a written statement, making clear that the Republican was brazenly lying. (Trump, incidentally, continued to push the claim anyway, even after it was discredited.)

Desperate to come up with some kind of coherent defense for his Mar-a-Lago scandal, Trump has fixated recently on the idea that his modern predecessors did the same thing he did, which should effectively render the controversy moot. As we’ve discussed, as far as the Republican is concerned, the everybody-does-it defense will be the one thing that gets him out of this mess.

The problem, of course, is that this entire defense is ridiculous.

Over the weekend, Trump not only said that Obama had taken sensitive materials, he also claimed that George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton had all taken documents to unsecured locations. In the case of H.W. Bush, Trump insisted that the late president took millions of documents to a venue where “there was no security.”

And so, the National Archives felt compelled to once again assure the public that Trump has no idea what he’s talking about it. The written statement, issued yesterday, read:

In other words, the Archives wants the public to know that Trump’s lie includes two parts. First, the Republican has insisted that his predecessors had their own documents, which isn’t true, since NARA maintained control of the materials.

And second, while Trump expects people to believe his predecessors’ records were kept at unsecured locations, NARA explained that this is also wrong.

Again, it’s quite likely that Archives officials didn’t want to issue such a statement, but since a former president continues to lie about its work and its records, they apparently saw value in setting the record straight for the public.

If recent history is any guide, Trump will ignore the NARA statement and continue to push the identical lie anyway.

Truth has no meaning anymore. Truth is simply what you can get masses of people to believe.
