This is probably so ... so they are being extra careful with it. I can still see the play where it happened when the Houston player stepped on his foot, the blind ref who was standing right there never called it, and Donovan went crashing to the floor.
 
Someone on twitter asked Jones this.

Both Jones and Dowsett tweeted that everything they have heard is that his foot is 100% fine.
 
Word from the locker room is he had been really favoring the left side of his mouth when brushing his teeth... I’m personally worried there is an issue we don’t know about and long term there is some games missed due to a toothache... stay tuned guys.
 
I think Donovan is a very bright guy. Seeing how injuries have ruined other players' careers -- D Rose, a prime recent example though there are many others -- I think he is probably taking precautions, at least that's my guess.

Stoked I believe they said it was "fine" but i dont think 100% was used.

Donovan said its fine. I think "its fine" means pretty good. Right now he's good to go, but it is a little worrying.

Went back and looked and you’re right. The “100%” was from a tweet the replied to. Not them saying it.
 
Has anyone ever heard what his original injury was? If his foot couldn't heal in four months of rest and the best treatment and rehab I think it's a fairly serious concern.

It's kind of wrecking my kool-aid buzz.

That’s not at all what happened.



It’s a non-contact injury which is worse news. Also, had there been a foul called in your fantasy scenario, would that have made everything better?

I don’t believe that information was ever released.

As much as I’d like to dismiss everything as non-sense, it seems like everyone has already been involved in playing down what was obviously a significant injury, so I don’t know what the truth is. Except that it’s almost certainly worse than whatever they’re telling us (or not, rather).

I wonder if it happened on that cut? His foot rolls toward the outside. But that doesn't seem abnormal for a cut. Wow, weird injury. And then he can't weight the forefoot.
 
What injury did someone post where the metatarsal breaks away from the ankle or something?
 
I think we might be in a tricky situation. It is REALLY important that the Jazz err on the side of caution. Even if it means sitting Don for half the season. **** it, we'll still make the playoffs. And it would give Grayson and Dante a chance to develop.

I hope I'm reading into this too much.

There was a play the game before when he was going up for a layup and the defender stepped on his foot. I think that is the play during which he originally was injured. I looked for it in games 4 and 5 highlights but can't find it. But I remember it clearly. Donovan was on the left side in a break situation and the Houston player stepped on his foot causing him to lose control and fall to the floor. I think that was when he actually injured his foot.
