Draft mistakes

In the last 5 drafts? 10 drafts, 15 ?? I know that it has to be difficult predicting the next star based off of what draft pic you have, but the Jazz are known for raising some eye brows when it comes to draft day.
I think the only fair way to judge this, is by GM at the time and draft pic #. We have clearly been doing something wrong since the early 90's.

Jazz have always done pretty well with their drafting. Even the players people like to vilify were pretty good picks considering where they were drafted (like Ostertag.) One of my favorite quotes was from the braintrust that drafted John Stockton. "You guys really nailed that John Stockton pick back then." "Not really, if we had known fully what he was, we would have made sure to trade up and not miss him. rather than wait and hope he fell to us." Sometimes, even when you get that complete diamond in the late round it is just plain luck, because if you truly knew what they were you would trade up and not trust to luck that somebody else doesn't snake you. Looking at that, I can't feel bad about the occasional miss like Paul George. I DO know that the Jazz got great value for where they drafted with Hayward and that is all I can honestly judge them by.

Maybe Burke's issue is confidence and knowing what he wants to do. When gets going he has almost adequate speed on the floor. Maybe he's just thinking too much right now rather than getting into a flow. If he's second-guessing his shots when he's taking them, it's not the same as shooting with confidence.

I think he is the type of player that has to be inspired to perform at his best.
