Duncan > Malone?

Malone's best 10 year stretch: PPG: 27.6, TRB: 10.8, AST: 3.6, STL: 1.5, BLK: 0.9, FG% .536, FT% .751

Duncan's best 10 year stretch: PPG: 21.4, TRB: 11.7, AST: 3.3, STL: 0.8, BLK: 2.3, FG% .504, FT% .686

I'll call it a wash.

Yep, Duncan is more versatile, better defender, blocker, smarter, leader and all. He has not interested in either playing at advertisements or talking meaningless in an interview. Guy is like robotic giving no error.

I always find it a very interesting comparison although they are quite different players. And always believed that it's very close.

There are some good points in the thread. Besides those, I would also add the comrades into consideration. As much as I like Parker and think he helped Duncan greatly, I believe Duncan would have been even better if he had Stockton next to him during his all career.

Like I said, I think it's very very close but my vote goes for Duncan.

One of these things

Duncan is the best. Guys like Malone and Griffin are awesome.

......Doesn't belong......

Griffon does not belong in this conversation. Match Malone with Paul and clippers talent, they are in the finals.

I love km and td. It is an honor to either of them to be compared to the other.

in malone's defense, duncan didn't play in an era that consists of bird's celtics, showtime lakers, and MJ's bulls.

In Duncan's defense he's playing in an era of 3 pt shooting centers and power towards and athletic run and gun freaks.

Duncan has changed his body and game to continue to dominate this league.

Listen, it's not to take anything away from Mailman. He's one of my favorite players of all time and a completely self made man. Duncan is better.

After the smoke has cleared in a few years and we look back at Duncan, I think more people will be open to the fact that he seriously is one of the best of all time. Right up there with MJ, Wilt, Shaq... Yes, better than Malone.

Especially if he beats the Heat this year. The Heat have looked unstoppable and Lebron is in the absolute prime of his career.

You present this post in such a way that you seem to be trying to convince someone that duncan is better.
Has there even been one person so far who said malone is better?

We are all in agreement. Duncan > malone

Difficult to compare. It depends on how they would fit into the rest of the team they are playing with. Duncan is more versatile, a hybrid PF-C. Malone is a pure PF. Malone is much better offensively and Duncan is much better defensively. It's like comparing Larry Bird and Michael Jordan with Duncan being Bird and Malone being Jordan. Duncan is more finesse and skill and Malone is more athleticism and pure power. I think Bird made his teammates better than Jordan, who was more of a one-on-one force. Same with Duncan and Malone. It's not that any of the four were strictly individuals. All four made their teammates better and had all-around skills. But Jordan and Malone were more about athleticism than skill.

Sounds like you think duncan and malone were pretty even.

Maybe you need a tie-breaker (championship rings?)
