Dwight Howard

Shaq is one of the top 5 most dominant players of all time, or at least has a good argument.

Prove it. With science. You would think a player that is top 5 most dominant would have one of these in his career...

scoring record
rebounding record
most points scored
highest season percentage
most blocks

Either as a career or in a season...

You're truly are a moron if you don't understand how Shaq is one of the most "dominate" players of all time. Especially in his prime.

4X NBA Champion
3X NBA Finals MVP
2000 MVP
2X Scoring champion
8X all NBA first team

More importantly, in his prime, he was literally unguardable. This is also coming from a guy who absolutely hates the guy. Oh, btw, I hate you too. It's a strong word, I know, but I do.

He hasn't. I'm 5'10' and might as well have better post moves than Howard. Now seriously - the guy uses his athleticism too much to force his will in the paint, sometimes it ends with a dunk, sometimes with a chuck... his back to the basket game lacks so much it is annoying. He has no mid range game to talk about. He moves so mechanically on offense it is like watch NBA live 2004...

It's obvious I'm arguing with people that haven't actually watched him play. This year alone (all of two games) shows how tricks he has up his sleeve.

Sorry, I would never call Shaq dominant.

The last few years his game has been dunks only, but this year in the games I've watched, he looks more comfortable going up with both hands, his footwork looks better, and he has better touch around the basket.

Well, he is too old to carry a team, but a good TEAM (Lebron Cleveland James was not a team) that can utilize what still left can definitely carry Shaq around. He is still a very serviceable center if only for his size alone, not to mention his experience. I can only imagine how much it sucks for a player like Shaq to play in a system where he can't just use what he has instead of fighting for crumbles that fall of the playbook. This is why I thought he chose wise deciding to sign with the Celtics - They know how to utilize players and they have the need for his leftover skills.

I agree he is improving, but I would expect much more from a player in his caliber - can you imagine what he could have been if he improved like Millsap improves every year?

Same goes, by the way, to Lebron. He is definitely a great player (I hate him though) but he is not improving as much as expected. If you compare him to his fellow teammate Wade, you can easily see how Wade worked himself from a good player into one of the game's best while improving EVERY single aspect of his game. Sure you might say that Lebron is still better, and in some aspects you might be right (I can't believe I'm saying that...!) but he should have been freaking amazing right now instead of a great player.

Shaq and Kobe teams would have crushed MJ's teams. In his prime, Shaq is possibly the most dominant player in the Western Conference over the last 27 to 30 years, excluding lockout seasons, seasons containing leap years (both), and periods of low precipitation. Did I do that punt thing right, Archie?
