I think it’s fair to mention that the jazz ownership have made claims like this before and have indeed gone into the tax, if I recall it was to match the Portland offer sheet to Millsap. I think they’ll be careful, they won’t go into the tax unless they see a great opportunity. For example they see a sure fire way to add a top star. My best guess anyway.

They did it for two years when the tax was a dollar for dollar deal... dumped harpring and manor to really limit how much they paid. The system is more punitive now... after they paid the tax they lived at the salary floor. I’m guessing during the pandemic/impending financial crisis we will do gymnastics to duck the tax.

I disagree. Many of us hated it and were vocal about it even back when it was floated as an idea at the mid-season trade deadline the previous season. I do not believe the majority here ever felt it was a good trade.

I wanted Brogdon from the get go. He would've been a perfect fit alongside donny.

it's worse than doing nothing when you are incompetent because you may have done more harm than good, which is exactly the case with the Conley trade.

the solution for it would be to replace this current management with someone who's actually competent then try it again. our FO had their shot, and they blew it. so it's someone else's turn now.

According to Tony Jones of the Athletic the Jazz are planning on keeping Conley for next season (who knows how they REALLY feel). But also according to Jones, the Jazz are willing to go into luxury tax territory to do what needs to be done.

And I intend on starting to eat healthy.

1, Asking this current version of Conley to average 20 and 7 while playing good defense is a big IF no matter how you look at it.

What if Suns figure it out with their talented squad, manage to stay healthy and carry their bubble momentum into next season? What if Curry and Klay comes back at full strength next season and start doing what they've been doing their whole career as the splash brother? What if Grizz/Pels/T'wolves continue to improve with their young squad and find a way to insert themselves into the playoffs conversation?

All are more likely to happen than a 34 yr old mike conley, who's never won anything even in his prime yrs with memphis, finding his fountain of youth. Even if he does i won't rate him as a top 15 PG in this league.

2, Conley is brought in specifically as a win-now-guy who's likely gonna be gone by the end of 2021. if he needs time to learn a new system, why shouldn't we instead give it to some younger player who are gonna be here long term?

DM will want out if we still play Conley major minutes, take the ball out of DM's hands, and give him tougher defensive assignment because we need to hide Mike Conley on defense.

Conley sucks and is a has been we traded nearly the whole team for him. DL is stupid maybe he has hopes of acquiring Exum again and signing him to the supermax?

Just wanted to chine in. I still hate Conley. He makes the Jazz worse and he cost the jazz 3 first rounders and the former quality bench. Worst trade the Jazz have ever made.
