C'mon JazzyFresh. Keep up. You should know why per capita statistics have to be used here right? It's simple math. That's why the gun violence statistics in South Korea and Japan are so spectacular. We're talking about a population density that surpasses our biggest cities. People fight, people bicker. It's gonna happen because people are living on top of each other (relatively). Yet, murders occur at a much lower rate. Mass killings? nearly unheard of.

It's not that Koreans and Japanese have lower rates of depression and mental illness. The suicide rates are comparable for sure. People commit crimes. However, the crimes just don't result in bodies.

We can't have this though. The cat is out of the bag in this country to be honest. We have too many gun nuts, much like our friend JazzyFresh here, who think their guns are gonna defend them (LOL).

Just FYI, the second amendment wasn't created by God himself. The rest of the world doesn't have one.

Question, if the second amendment was disbanded and the man said guns are banned, would you hand yours in? I don't think enough would and we'd still have massive gun issues on our hands for a long time.

No I don't. Not when I am talking about the total amount of murders. It's basic addition and subtraction dude. More murders happen in point A than point B. More people are murdered in Urban areas than non urban areas, it's a fact. As I pointed out 5 cities had more than double the murders than the other 25 cities combined. Right or wrong? Are more people killed in Urban areas or in non urban areas? Amazing that you're trying to tell me that it's more dangerous to live in Alaska than downtown KC. Now that's laughable.

It puts things into perspective as to where a good chunk of gun violence is happening. How is that not meaningful? Take those cities out of the equation and suddenly our numbers aren't all that bad.
 
At least 46 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, including seven who were killed

The Chicago Police Department told CBS News that it believes all of the shootings were gang or drug-related. "The individuals are carrying illegal guns to settle disputes and to prey on rivals because there are no consequences for carrying guns in the city of Chicago," Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said.



So instead of focusing on places like this, we're talking about Fairbanks Alaska because of capita. Instead of have extremely strict laws for illegally possessing firearms, were worried about Danville Illinois because of capita. Instead of focusing on the true numbers behind gun violence we're worried about 10 deaths in a year rather than nearly 10 deaths in a weekend. I'm sorry dudes, be condescending all you want but to me it's pretty damn simple where the mass numbers of gun violence are coming from. It's not Alaska.

Ok, let's come up with another metaphor. There are thousands of McDonald's in California, compared to just twenty four in Wyoming. Now, does this mean that Californians are more likely to eat McDonald's than someone living here?

I wrote out an entire post trying to like explain why and deleted it. lol, it's too dumb. I just didn't think my post was gonna help so I went with this:


The only reason more total gun homicides occur in Chicago than Fairbanks is more people live in Chicago. That's it. If, suddenly, Fairbanks found itself with 10,000,000 people and the per-capita gun homicide rate stayed the same. Fairbanks would be "the problem" too.

Our numbers are the same amount of bad. You just took out 90 something percent of our population with the murders, leaving our gun homicide rate, basically, the same.
