What's new

Enes Kanter still unsigned

Fascinating thread. Not one, but two teams felt Kanter was a max player. Young too, drafted 3d overall, averaging 20 and 10 already. We got late first rounder for him in a terrible trade for the franchise. Yet people are still trying to start threads that he no one wants him, because he stinks.

Well, two teams offered max. Time to shut up and admit how valuable he actually is, and how pathetically our FO failed to get enough for his value.

Two teams battled it out for $7 million a year for Landry Fields. Turns out he's not worth a minimum contract.

The Blazers and Thunder are both stupid.

The max contract Enes got, somehow proves that the Jazz Kanter fans were not preaching in the desert.

It is curious that a player that was labeled a bust by many Jazz fans will make $17,5 million per season....more than any Jazz player, Hayward included. These are the facts.

Anyway as a Jazz fan I'm glad we didn't give me that massive contract.

Let's close the Kanter chapter once and for all.

I don't think anybody thought Kanter was a bust. He's a gifted offensive player with a huge ego who doesn't care a rat's arse about playing defense. Maybe 2 other superstars are enough to help OKC out score everybody in the playoffs. As for me, I already saw how far similar players (Boozer and Jefferson) took Utah. Both were essentially 20/10 players but weak defenders. I'd much rather have Gobert manning the 5 than Kanter at $17M. Chicago regretted signing Boozer and Charlotte hasn't done much with Big Al. We'll see if the honeymoon wears off with Enes.

That's not the point.
Just ask yourself how many soon to be maxed players were traded for that little in the past?

Tell me how Utah could have gotten more in return? Kanter was an ******* who publicly demanded a trade. Everyone knew Utah wasn't going to match an offer. What did Miami get for Lebron or the Lakers for Howard? They both left as FA's. DL could have done the same with Enes. At least he got something

- There were plenty discussions regarding hypothetical trades. Why waste time going there again?
- Karl Malone also publicly demanded a trade, yet somehow ended up staying as well as many other guys who either stayed or ended up traded for a fair price
- Nobody knew if Utah would match or not, that's pure speculation. The Jazz definitely had cap space to match
- Both Miami and Lakers begged them to stay. Why would they trade them?

Effectively, if you can't prove that there are examples of soon-to-be-maxed players traded for peanuts in the past and still think DL did a good job, then you claim Dennis Lindsey made an exceptional trade which doesn't have precedents. It can't be inbetween. It's either a crappy trade in which Jazz get robbed or once in a decade kind of thing and to me it's clearly not the latter.

lol, what are you implying here? That Kanter's salary is 100% equivalent to his on-court value?

Please. We all saw the Jazz dramatically improve right after ditching his zero-defense ***. Him getting paid the max doesn't rewrite history.

So, reading through this thread, it seems a lot of people are still clueless about what's happening with the cap. Lol at the Kanter homers celebrating a value based on the future cap.

Hypothetical trades by fans....lol. I guess DL should be fired because we didn't get Paul George. There was never a rumor of any team wanting Kanter, unlike what happened with players like 'Melo. And yes, everyone KNEW Utah would not give or match a huge offer for Enes. He had lost his starting spot to Gobert. Tell me, how many max players come off the bench? DL had two choices: keep a selfish, disgruntled ******* on the team, and try for a sign and trade in the summer, or risk losing him for nothing if he received any kind of high offer. Even worse would be to have him return on the qualifying offer. We both agree Utah didn't get much, but his public demands ended any chance DL had. And if you go back and read the news reports; DL had been trying since December to trade him.

As for the Malone example, that's irrelevant. Kanter didn't want to stay as a backup and the Jazz didn't want a selfish me-first player at his asking price.

Is there a link where I can read more about this?

Well done

Interview of Lindsey. You can go find it if you'd like. I don't have the time to waste. The only fact that matters is Kanter is a prick. Yes, I said it and I usually don't use such language. And I'm only 6'1" but I'd say it directly to him. Very few players EVER trash organizations, coaches, teammates, and fans like he did. REGARDLESS of him thinking he had been "wronged" - and I'd argue he could only say that about his second season - he should thank Utah for drafting him...or say NOTHING at all.

Almost every ex-Jazz man has praised the organization and the fans. Even guys like Snyder and DWill who left on sour notes. Around the league few players have ever spoken as badly of former teams. I hope OKC is willing to change his diapers and burp him daily. If adversity ever hits, it's going to be fun to watch the carnage. And my prediction is the first victim will be Durant. He'll get awfully tired of Kanter stat-chasing and giving no effort on the defensive end. Kevin will be in Washington or somewhere else this time next summer.
