Erin Andrews - Awarded $55M

I don't think that only women want to look good.
Men do too imo

Men do too, no one is saying otherwise. But for us to think that there is equal societal emphasis on men and women looking good in this world is incorrect, and foolish.

That's what this argument is about, and that's what feminists worldwide are arguing for.

A vague concept shared by every contemporary feminist in academia. I'm sorry it doesn't line up with some WASPy dude's from Utah. Stay in your lane.

A concept you mustn't understand because you have brutally misapplied it.

Nope-- we must end our nurturing of the societal-construction of the sentiment that it is of paramount importance for a woman to be beautiful. This notion must be deconstructed and gotten rid of/

Maybe to a simpleton like you. That isn't at all what it means. I am chastising the fact that there is a bar being set based off of a social construct (set by men who don't need to meet it themselves) that unfortunately the majority of women will never meet.

This thinking isn't particularly sophisticated.

Classic Dal, pseudo intellectual extraordinaire. You still don't recognize that you are focusing on the psyche of women in a discussion about sex crimes committed against them. How a woman sees herself is not the problem. How the perpetrator sees himself is the problem.

Who is 'these'? Yes, millions of women are subjected to a delegitimizing culture that they are unaware of. Fortunately, many women are revolting it, and were the first people to bring this up in the first place.

You just confirmed that your position is exactly the condescending and demeaning garbage that I thought it was. "These women are too stupid to realize that they are perpetuating a rape culture."

classy

And women also deserve the right to not give a **** about whether some ******* white dude thinks it's important for them to fall within his narrow range of what it means to be beautiful.

Women deserve to do what they want to do, period. They don't need you to judge the worth of their experiences for them.

I will report you if you keep making these baseless accusations. Get a grip.

Do it

I am shaming the system set in place by men-- women are held hostage to it, they aren't to be shamed. What a nuanced, difficult concept to understand amirte!!!!

*So long as they never use their sexuality to impress a man. Dal will decide what is legitimate.

I, for one, am still sort of baffled that a civil jury verdict on a gross violation of privacy is apparently a gender issue.

I don't think the case or verdict is a gender issue and I don't think anyone has said it is.
The thread changed along the course of discussion as threads sometimes do.
The case and Erin Andrews are no longer being discussed.

cute.
You seem to have gotten too smart for common sense.

*So long as they never use their sexuality to impress a man. Dal will decide what is legitimate.

Not once have I said that a woman shouldn't use her sexuality to impress a man. That's completely her decision.

I am criticizing the precedent that men set that unfairly pushes women to use sexuality to impress all peers in society, including men.

To a simpleton like you, the two above points are the same. I'll keep playing chess, you can stick to checkers.

Ah yes, what a misogynist. Wish I could be more like alt13 and deny institutional sexism.

I didn't deny the existence of institutional sexism. I claimed that your poor application of feminism perpetuates it. I had no issue with anything you said until you took that extra step too far. The one where you blamed female sexuality.

When the IQ attacks come out its over.

Move along people! This horse is dead.

It veered in that direction as soon as people started going down the "it probably helped her career so she's not really entitled to all that money" path. That happened pretty early.

It becomes a gender issue as soon as people start saying things that are ignorant of the gender politics at play, not when they are called out for being functional misogynists.

dalol

Anyway I'm glad your backing up now. That wasn't so hard was it?

I didn't deny the existence of institutional sexism.

You delegitimize it when you characterize critiques of institutional sexism as "liberal misogyny". It's fooling no one.

I claimed that your poor application of feminism perpetuates it.

Yes, with some Goebblsian, Baghdad Bob level analysis

I had no issue with anything you said until you took that extra step too far. The one where you blamed female sexuality.

Hahahahahahah
