Excited for Hayward

When the sun comes up tomorrow, I'm a big Gordon Hayward Fan. That's the only way you can look at it. And you never know. We'll see how long it lasts.

I think we're all going to need to be big Fess/Kosta fans since they're currently our only players above 6'9"

Did Okur shrink two inches from the injury?

No one knows if, when, and how he'll come back. Besides, he never was known as a "big" player either.

Also, for what it's worth, we only have one healthy under contract big man over 6'9" right now, Boom Bitches. Fess is a RFA.

that's pretty scary. Even when fully healthy and if we resign Fess we'll have fewer big men over 6'9" than Golden State.

I am with Honz on this one I like the pick., who knows maybe its all the green chili we eat down here. Besides all the good big guys were off the board and we took the best available, he's a winner. I liked what KOC said in his interview about him being the best player on the floor in the final four. He will be a solid player for the Jazz.

I believe Okur will come back better than ever, and stronger than ever. Rehab from this injury will be by far the hardest work he's ever done, he may actually increase his vertical from 2.5 to 3".

Korver is a horrible defender, I will give him credit that he did the best with his physical abilities, but that doesnt change the fact his defense sucked. Hayward is a bigger and better athlete with just as high basketball IQ, no reason he shouldnt be a better defender than KK.

Rebounding. Um he is 6-8 and averaged 8 rebounds in College, he is a better rebounder than Korver.

Did you even bother checking Korver's college stats? Tell the truth the truth. Did you or didn't you? His rebounding average might surprise you. It's really not that much different than Hayward. As far as playmaking, what are you basing this on? College stats? Again, if you want to base things on college stats (which you just did in bringing up Hayward's 8 rebounds per game in college) then be objective and use Korver's stats as well. Go ahead and look up Korver's rebounds as well.

Playmaking? Korver averaged DOUBLE Hayward's assists. As far as defense, both are lost causes in this aspect. As far as shooting and scoring, Korver beats Hayward in every single statistical category, especially 3 point %.

Name a player that has come back better with a higher vertical leap from this injury.

Korver sucks. Last year Sloan didnt even play him in a few games because he thought Korver was'nt athletic enough to be on the floor, based on the matchups. How pathetic is that?

And if Korver was supposedly better than Hayward in college, then I think we have lot to be excited about Hayward's upside. Championship, here we come

The point is, when you have a chance to add a big man with potential and decided to pick a position where we are most stacked at this point, it doesn't make any sense. Hayward may as well be averaging 20 points and winning ROY but it still doesn't change the fact that our defense is still as bad as we have been the past several seasons. Not saying picking Ed Davis or Aldrich will for sure improve our defense instantly, but at least there will be hope. Now, no hope at all. Even if the Jazz are able to get one via trade or free agency, this is yet another blown first round pick by the front office.

Factual posts about Hayward are not going to make the process of liking him easier. For that matter, we should not use facts ever in talking about Hayward. I'm sticking to the cliches. He's a 'gamer.' He's a 'team' guy. He's a 'winner.' He's got that 'something.'
