Exum Finishes 4th In ESPN ROY Forecast

I pirated some summer league... watched from my computer... on my couch.

HERE'S WHAT I HAVE CONCLUDED ABOUT DANTE EXUM! DAMN THE SO-CALLED EXPERTS!:

I also watched the free scrimmage, but I'm still analyzing that footage. More to come.

Again, anyone is free to explain how they test for "fire". And since they act like they have a list that scores it out perfectly....Dante being up with Kobe, etc. Let's see the list. Apparently they have going back to the 1996 draft at least. That's a lot of data.

Stop defaming Kobe by making that comparison.

1. I've never seen the data; don't think it's publicly available.

2. Andrea Bargnani apparently slaughtered those tests. I'm inclined to think they're ********. A player's on-court demeanor is displayed on the court.

3. With that said, he's a young kid who hasn't played much recently or much against grown men. He's also been asked to play off-ball more in both summer league and with the Australian National team. I don't think there's any cause for concern yet.

It would be interesting to see where somebody like Lance Stephenson would be on that test.

I should note that I think Dante's mental makeup is good. He seems bright. Stable. All good things. When you have that on top of skills(even raw ones) and athletic ability, you do have potential. I'm not predicting he's going to be bad(though I don't think the crazy upside is there). I'm just adjusting my viewpoint from things we've been hearing he was.....but haven't seen yet. I was never expecting to hear a lot of compliments about him be like what you might hear when somebody describes Kendall Marshall......"he tries to get other players involved first"......"he lets the game come to him."

Please explain how they test that. Because you know how you test that? You watch them play in games.

Lol, that does help but this kind of testing goes far beyonf sports. Do they make mistakes? Sure they do but their margin of error, as a result of their experience, is far less than the average persons.

Edit: Also we are not making that comparison. We are telling you that those in the business are the ones making it.

If you do not want to believe that then fine with me. I think when there is smoke there is sometimes fire. If, again note that I said if, it is true then he will bust his butt and work on all the areas he needs to.

This is baloney ,watch him play defense against some of the opposing players fastest guys and Exum is in front of them with his hands up.Another baloney ,quit making up crap ,......he's having trouble keeping up in D...........he is moving as quick and as fast as all the players out there.

Well ,cant let you come here and make up stories .....If you pull up the stats of the other 3 Aussie guards ,clearly Exum is finding the hole much more than the others .Im just amazed you can exaggerate without any proof at all ,your take is false.

lol, really? Making **** up? How many of his game did you actually see? I saw every single one of them I could get my hands on.
vs Finland 1, 2pt, 5 ast, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 0 TO first half
vs Finland 1, 0pt, 1 ast, 0 rb, 1 st, 1 TO second half
vs Ukraine 9pts, 1ast, 2rb, 1st, 0 TO first half
vs Ukraine 5pts, 2ast, 1rb 0 TO second half
vs Lithuania 5pts, 3ast, 1rb, 0TO first half
vs Lithuania 0pts, 1 ast, 0rb, 2TO second half
vs Finland 2 10pt, 1 ast, 1 rb, 0 TO first half,
vs Finland 2 0pts, 1 ast, 0 rb, 3 TO second half

1st halves: 26pts, 10ast, 6rb, 3st, 0 TO
2nd halves: 5pts, 5ast, 1rb, 1 st, 6 TO

Is that enough of a proof for you?

I can't bother making a video of the way his defensive play falls down when he gasses. Of course he plays with the fastest players of the opposing team and that is probably physically demanding of him, he does good when he's fresh, he even fights his way through the screens. That's not exactly the case when he gasses, he gives up on plays. His offensive intensity and aggression falls dramatically, too. The stats show that much more clearly.

And to finish off, I'd say again - I really, really, REALLY would prefer him having conditioning problems right now(which can be relatively easily fixed), than the alternative, which spells much more worries and doubts about his play.

I tend to think that some of Dante's statements regarding where he wants to play (on the ball) even though it may rub the incumbent the wrong way is telling of his fire and demeanor. He does not give a **** about Trey and Treys ego. All he cares about is relegating him to the bench or off the ball. Takes balls for an 18 year old to make the statements he has in a political but emphatic way.

I think you have provided some nice coverage and probably can speak to Dantes peformance better than most here, but what were his minutes per half? If I recall seesm like they benched Dante for the Vets in the second half, right?
