What did he do to earn the right to put up those shots?
Maybe that's better question to ask Snyder and Jazz coaching staff? We do not know what is happening in Jazz practice. Maybe Mitchell wowed coaching staff by being aggressive, listening to what coach says and making those shots during practice? For all I know his shooting mechanics are great, not like Exum's who's jumper may not be as ugly as Lonzo's but it is one of the uglier shots in whole NBA. Dante has only himself to blame for not being aggressive or making open shots when given the opportunity. Plus his conditioning was really poor during his rookie year, even if somebody would have spoon fed him some extra minutes he would be not able to handle them. He used to suck air and have his hands on his hips after just couple minutes of play. Mitchell on the other hand has amazing stamina highlighted by his scoring outbursts in 4th quarters. Exum's rookie PER and all other advanced stats were historically bad. Like seriously terrible. For example look how bad he was in pick and roll - Although he's only used them 18.3 percent of the time, he's racked up just 0.35 points per play. According to NBA.com, that's the worst among NBA point guards and fifth worst among every player in the league. So please do not blame coach and his staff, they know better than me or you or all Jazzfanz combined.
