As a guy who has a lot of faith in X and think he's going to be just fine. You almost make me not like him. You continue to ignore the team dynamic and the differences in the personalities of the 2 players. Yes Mitchell is inefficient, So is X so far in his career. The differences are that Mitchell has a more aggressive personality and this team needs somebody to become a scorer. If Exum was healthy right now I'd expect him to be more aggressive as well and have more opportunity than ever before. Also if Exum was healthy it would have taken longer for Mitchell to start getting this much opportunity. The situations just are not the same. If Exum is offended by the opportunity that Mitchell is having then he should have been more aggressive earlier in his career and he should work his *** off to come back and show his ability when he does. Their is an spot on this team for a real offensive leader and so far Mitchell has show more promise in that regard.
Dude, don't let my perspective or fandom impact your views etc.
I don't ignore the team dynamic. The Jazz tanked their asses off to get Exum, yet unlike Burke, Burks, Kanter and Favors he was never given a proper run at being a key piece on the team. You don't tank for a point guard and then draw up your first play for him in his 4th pre-season.
Taking the ball out of his hands was useless and short sighted.
Regarding this aggressive BS - I don't buy it. Believing in your ability and jacking up shots doesn't make you a great character guy. Maybe this is a cross cultural difference. But in Australia, you don't grow up playing sports to be the MAN. You grow up to be an effective part of a team. Exum was forced to defer. If not always explicitly by Quin (which it was), then implicitly by being yanked whenever he made a mistake.
I recognize it is pretty much tank season again, but everyone here are such apologists for the FO and coach. I am not in that camp.
