Favorite Bands to Listen to?

Lets hear it

Judging from the number of songs I have from each band according to my Itunes, the top 10 are:

Alice in Chains
311
Pink Floyd
Phish
Primus
Metallica
Queensryche
Sublime
Beatles
Beastie Boys

But I'm not sure if they're necessarily all my favorites. Most of them are, but I like Zepplin, Skynard, the Doors, and the Allman Bros better than Sublime, I just don't own as much of their stuff for whatever reason.

Wu Tang Clan, Michael Jackson, Digital Underground, Rage Against the Machine, Boogie Down Productions, Tupac, Talking Heads, Beastie Boys, Rockie Fresh, Peter Gabriel, Marylin Manson, Boyz II Men, Cameo, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Fu Schnickens, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Madonna, Phoenix, Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, John Mayer, Fleetwood Mac, Barenaked Ladies, Sigur Ros, Zero 7, Smashing Pumpkins, Virginia Coalition, Jodeci, R. Kelly, Kurupt

I've sat here for about 30 minutes making sure I didn't leave out anyone/band. I've never actually compiled a list of my favorite music. I left off countless artists because I may only like a handful of their songs, while I like 90% of everything from the artists listed above.

So far I have the best list I've seen in this thread for what it's worth.

This is an interesting approach, Nate. Made me curious enough to look at the top 25 plays on my ipod. The top 10 of those were by the following bands (in order):

1. Royal Bliss
2. Crumb
3. Royal Bliss
4. Faith No More
5. Ash
6. Led Zeppelin
7. Pollen
8. Led Zeppelin
9. Led Zeppelin
10. Ash

Just looked at my top 5

Linkin Park
Rev Theory
Mumford & Sons
Puddle of Mud
Pit Bull

and Royal Bliss was number 6. And Royal Bliss "We did nothing Wrong" is my favorite Royal Bliss Song

Let's go one step further and list my favorites by genre.

Country: Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Chris LeDoux. There are many other artists that I like one or two of their songs, but can't stand the body of their works. (Kenny Chesney, Dirks Bentley, Keith Urban, to name a few)

Soft Rock/Pop: Billy Joel, Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Christopher Cross.

Hard Rock/Butt Rock/80's Rock: Twisted Sister, Metallica (I despise them as people, but can't help but enjoy their music), Motley Crùe, The Scorpions, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden.

Metal/Nu Metal: (my favorite) Rammstein, KMFDM, Korn, Slipknot, Godsmack, Mudvayne, System of a Down, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Atreayu, Linkin Park (in very small doses), Cannibal Corpse, Rob Zombie, Manson, Spineshank, Papa Roach, Saliva, Stained, Static X, Deftones, Soulfly, Orgy. Just to name a few...

Pop/Teeny Bop Garbage: Nothing. It should all rot in hell.

Rap: 2pac, Snoop, Dre. That's it. Rap is almost as bad as pop/teenybop/beiber crap, but not quite.

Classical: Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Handel, Jim Brickman.

That seems to be just about it.

Thanks for reading,

Trout.

Guess like a lot here it can very greatly depending on where my mind/mood is at.

I could go from listening to Bob Marley to Social Distortion to Ice Cube to Flogging Molley to UB40 to 2Pac (including Digital Underground) to the Ramones, to Sublime to.........

Well after re-reading what a lot of you put especially Chitown minus the country Although I do enjoy an occasional song from Alabama, Oakridge Boys and Johnny Cash and damn the Eagles for putting out Hotel California only to find it wasn't on their greatest hits CD I have and all their country sounding crap was on it instead.

Hotel California is on the Eagles Greatest Hits volume 2.
I think you might live Volume 2 much better than volume 1 from the sounds of it.
