Favors agent says only way he stays long-term is if Hayward leaves

His agent is getting ahead of himself here. If Favors has another injury riddled year, nobody is going to be throwing the bank at him. Also, say Utah re-signed Hayward but lost out on Hill. Utah could still put themselves in position to keep Favors with Hayward and Rudy as our only big contracts. So yeah, a lot could happen that would make this not necessarily true.

To me, if you read between the lines here, this is just Favors' agent saying Utah got him on a bargain last time around, and will have to pay up this time, which may or may not end up being the case.
 
I thought before seeing this article that the Jazz would be looking to move Favors this offseason. The combination of him not being ideal next to Rudy, his constant injuries, and his contract ending next offseason when we'll likely be over the cap and wanting to spend any money we have to re-sign our own restricted free agents (Hood, Exum) makes it hard to justify keeping him. But his agent needs to stop talking right now. He's killing any leverage we have in trade discussions.

I agree with this. It's not like Favors killed it last year or stayed healthy.

Favors' agent didn't say the only way Favors stays is if Hayward leaves. Read article for context. He talks about the difficulties of the roster and salary situation that we've all discussed already, but then they mention Hayward possible signing elsewhere and he says that under that scenario obviously Favors may become more important to the franchise to retain.
