Favors agent says only way he stays long-term is if Hayward leaves

Depending on what happens with Hayward hill and Ingles I could see him getting salary dumped for a minor asset or lower paid rotation player.

In addition to health I think he's just not as valuable in the league anymore. Would be good next to Jokic or Porzingis but outside of that he will drag the offense down and isn't really a rim protector like some may think. I would honestly have the guy drop a bunch of weight and see if he can get some explosion back. Long term he needs to be an athletic strong 4.

I don't understand why all of a sudden everyone on the Jazz deserves a max contact. They most certainly don't. Only Rudy and G deserve that on the Jazz right now. So why all the talk about not being able to afford everyone? How do the Warriors do it? They will be paying max contacts soon to KD, Steph, Draymond and Klay, so how are they able to keep everyone? Is it because they don't care if they go over the luxury tax? Why even have a cap if teams can still go over it? Maybe it's time to make it a hard cap instead of a soft cap.

It's agent talk... He thinks his guy is worth it... if healthy I could see him getting a monster offer. Probably not max. the issue is he took a discount on his initial deal and also timed the cap spike wrong. At very least he should have negotiated a PO for this year or last. I believe the cap goes up slightly next year, but not much. Favors agent <<<<< Hayward's agent.

Looks like Favors is already back in the gym and working with a trainer. That's promising to see that he appears to be taking the off season seriously.

I don't know if its a foregone conclusion that GSW will have 4 max contracts.

Would Denver say no to a trade of Favors for Arthur and Barton? No idea what kind of value Favs has, but I'd love to get one or both of those guys. Both are basically expiring and both are buried on the depth chart... or Barton should be if they ever plan to play Beasley.

I don't see the point in trading Favors for other expiring contracts unless we get a draft pick.

Why would we do it if they are expiring? I like Favors better than both. Especially if he's healthy. As Cy said, it only makes sense if we are getting future assets in addition.

Getting two high quality rotation players that may fit better. If we trade AB and dump his salary we may need some depth on the wing. If JJ plays more 4 than three because Lyles sucks I think it helps too. I honestly think they'd say no but Favs is tough to peg.

Favs is extension eligible and Denver may end up with excess cap space too... might have more value to them than us that way:

The if healthy is a big if based on the last two years. I like the way Arthur fits... good shooter smart defender... can play four or five in spots.

That's why you ask for something of value, not expiring contracts.

Barton isnt a fit at all and Arthur has his own injury concerns, and none are better than Favors. The trade makes no sense IMO. Unless there is a draft pick, it's a no.

I understand the thought there but we are trading expiring contracts too... I mean if we can get a replacement player and a draft pick great but I don't see that happening.

You are higher on favors than me and most of the board (I think). I'd wait until after Hayward re-signs to do something, but either favors gets healthy and is too expensive for us next year or he has another terrible year and can't get through the injuries. If Hayward leaves we have the space to make it work.

Barton is a good shooter... if AB is gone and Hood gets hurt Barton fills in nicely. Exum needs to play PG and honestly if we had Barton and Hayward re-signed I might kick the tires on what Hood could get in a trade.

I'd always get the draft picks before I get the 8th and 9th man expiring rotational players. You can get those for free. Favors should net you a good return... or if he can't he's more valuable to us for this year than those players.

If that offer is the best the Jazz could do, I'd rather them just keep Favors and throw the dice he ups his trade value during the season. That trade would be horrendous for the Jazz. Arthur/Barton arent doing more than Favors next season for teh Jazz and they dont bring any future value.

I wonder if they lose badly if they don't consider getting rid of Love as well? Love would be a great pickup, obviously. I just doubt the Jazz have the assets.
He has 2 more years with a player option for a 3rd. He is making 22+ million.

I was wondering is a deal like hood, Lyles and favors? Others they might be interested in are Burks or Neto.

I could see a trade going like love and shumpert for hood, favors, Lyles and burks.

Cleveland needs to fill out it's roster
