Favors got extended

Defense is a huge asset it today's NBA. Teams lust over defensive minded big men. Favors would have gotten this if not more if the Jazz waited out the season. IMO anyway.

Favors wouldn't have gotten 12 million a year from other teams? Seriously?

As sad as it is you are right, we have Portlands, New Yorks and Dallases who can throw money like that at unproven potential and won't feel any financial pain at all.
I still think it is a risk since Jazz had right to match any offers. Injuries can happen and derail career of young kid who's biggest asset is physical superiority. Outside of being athletic freak what else Favors have?

It's unfortunate the Jazz couldn't get Favors at 11 per, but 4 years, $49mm is fine. There's a good chance he would have received an offer sheet of that size next summer and an equally good chance this new contract can be dumped for nothing if necessary. It's worth noting that injuries can also happen after a player's 4th year in the league (strange point since you've argued that AK would still have received a max offer sheet despite missing half the Jazz's games in 04/05...).

Re: Hayward

Most teams now has a PG who does most of the playmaking (which is one of Hayward's greatest assets). Therefore it's higher unlikely that a team will offer a contract worth more than $10m to a wing player of this type, unless he/she has the potential to score over 20pts per game on a given night. (Durant, Carmelo, George, etc)

On that basis I think the Jazz will let Hayward test the market as a restricted FA before low balling him to a $8-$9m per year deal. (unless Hayward agrees to sign an extension around amount)

george sucks bro he is overrated he shots %41 and yet they labeled my man caramel anton a chucker.

Lance Stephenson is better than pol gorg.

While I agree with Paul George being overrated, you lost a lot of creditability with the Lance is better than Paul. I would think you would be the only one who thinks that way.

Favors needs to focus on being Tyson Chandler--- game-changing defender and a serious pick and roll threat. Though Chandler is a good free throw shooter. Favors needs that. Though I believe Favors 15 footer is better than Chandler's now.

Note that Tyson made about 11 mil/per year in Dallas. He hadn't shown a lot prior to that.

Maybe i'm a homer but when i look at my man Lance, i see Dwyane Wade. His game ressembles to Wade's game. If they give him the opportunity, he can show what he has.
Indiana made a big mistake extending george to MAX. lol he is paid more than james harden who is clearly more efficient than pol gorg

You are right, when I posted that I thought about the same year Jazz offered him his max deal. On the other hand those two injuries where freak accidents which might or might not affected AK's contract size ( nothing like ACL injury or broken ankle or something like that with long lingering effects). He still finished leading league in blocks per game that season despite only playing 41 game.
