Favors to OKC in works (Update: Traded)

Those teams also play in what are essentially the two richest areas of the country. Smith’s a billionaire yes, but he’s not getting the tv money, gate revenue, merchandising income and so forth that those teams get. It’s just a sad fact. We play in Utah. They have bigger stars and play in NYC and the heart of Silicon Valley.

I hear you, I do, but they obviously think very highly of Udoka or wouldn’t have spent a 1st on him. Maybe he can even be better than Favors. He’s not some Tony Bradley bum. Dude might be a legit two player. Is it a money saving move? Obviously, no doubt. ButI also think it’s maneuver that makes sense for both the short and long-term for reasons beyond money.

This. For over a month everyone was Jonesing to trade Favors. @Handlogten's Heros was one of the generals leading the charge. And now we’re gonna question it?
It’s a smart move when considering the interworkings of the roster and business side of things. Unless of course the pick is barely protected.
The market ended up being worst case scenario and he became just a salary dump… 3/4 of a first round pick is kinda the price of doing business… draftflation I guess.

Cheer up. We got a top 20 pick type guy at 40 and dumped Favors which we wanted.

We gonna sign Batum on Monday which signals to Mike we’re serious and then gonna re-sign him the same day.

Any protection on that first round pick? We could be in the middle of rebuild by 2024 so it would be smart to put lottery protection on the pick

It's like I'm the gm this morning! Bye Favors!

I’m already cheered all the way up homie! I’m all the way in… just want to make sure people know what it is. JZ got as good a deal as he could and we can move forward. I’m much happier today than I was yesterday at this time that’s for damn sure.

If we lost Rudy, I think we are close to a .500 team with Favors and Doke at C with a little help from a "small ball 5" addition. If we did lose Rudy for a month or two, that .500 play could be a big deal in making or not making the playoffs. I also think that Favors could be an asset for 10 minutes a game against certain big men.

I just think this was simply a cost cutting measure when our FO is trying to send some message that we are "all in".

I don't like this deal, but I'm moving on for now. If this is part of a bigger plan, I could feel differently about this deal.
We don’t need 3 centers. Especially a backup being paid what favors is being paid.

Favors scored 8 points in 6 games vs the Clippers, a team that he should have been able to have a good series against. He is washed. He can't stay healthy enough to be impactful despite having limited minutes.

The idea that any team would want him at his contract to play significant minutes is crazy. At this point in Favors career, he's probably a minimum contract guy teams have as an option matchup big.

I've heard a couple of things may be in the works dealing with a couple of guys that played in Australia. Jock Landale is a free agent center and tight with Ingles and Matt Mooney a PF from Notre Dame has already worked out for the Jazz.

They gonna give him the Horford Deer Anteler spray and flip him later but for worse money and a pick.
