2 second rounders are better than waving him

I'm not from Utah so I won't be there but you guys better give Favors the best standing ovation when he returns. This guy has been sacrificing his body and his earning potential for this team for the last 3-4 years.

I kinda like the idea of a 2023 Warriors 2nd tbh

That's fine by me. The options were waiving him, trading him for one 2nd rounder or trading him for two 2nd rounders. I'm glad we got two.

Now here are our 2nds the next few years:
    2020 - none
    2021 - GS
    2022 - ours and SA
    2023 - ours and GS
2024 - option to swap with Cleveland

Agreed. Here's the thing too is this makes the Jazz looks damn nice because they didn't just cut him. They got him to a preferred destination that needed a starting C (Pels looking damn nice now, BTW) while guaranteeing that deal and getting some small assets. Utah probably did the best they could given the situation, stayed classy, and the did right by a long time player. They did well here.

Great post. I agree 100%. They did right by Favors. That makes me happy.

We started our rebuild by getting two picks from the Warriors. There’s something poetic about getting two more just as we close the rebuild (i.e. enter our window of title contention).

This guy is amazing. Even when he leaves he gets you more value than gordon hayward! wish him all the best in new orleans and he is finally free to play the 5 spot 30+ minutes!

This is one of the things that doesn't get brought up enough. The jazz continue to treat their players right-giving Exum an above value contract, giving Favors a good contract last year, sending him somewhere he wanted. These moves show the Jazz value their players, which builds a good reputation in the league, and especially with agents, which is honestly one of the more important things for a front office to do.

I would have been happy getting one 2nd for Favors as it appeared he was merely going to get signed by some other team after we signed Bojan. Two 2nd rounders is great. It feels nice to accumulate them rather than keep trading them away (Korver Cleveland trade, Conley trade).

I hope the Millers take out a full page ad thanking Favors...this time the player will actually deserve it.

It was common knowledge that we had to let Favors go so we could sign Bojan. Getting anything for Favors was a bonus.

Satoransky was a restricted free agent Washington could have kept. They had more leverage.

Jazz should absolutely be working to make this a reality. The money has basically dried up, so having an extra $9.2 million for one player, $3.6 for a second player AND the Burks trade exception would be amazing. Throw as many 2nd and the rest of the cash into making this happen.

Doesn’t mean that they can’t use the deals that they’ve negotiated in their favor. Use assets to get the other teams on board, and then focus on adding one more critical piece in a compressed market.
