What's new

FIFA World Cup 2018

It should awaken the Germans. Let's see.

It should. But Mexico's is exploiting Germany's right side at will. Low needs to make some changes.

What a game! An inferior team (in theory) just playing their hearts out and taking it to mighty Germany. That's why I love football so much

I enjoy the world cup... but basketball is so much the superior sport. Im not pretending to change any minds as ive had this discussion before with friends and never seemed to get anywhere... but the offsides rule gives too much discretion to the refs and most the time theres any good action it ends up with guys tripping and the ball being kicked out of bounds.

My 2 cents

This is what I dislike most. 90% of the time something exciting is happening it ends in disappointment

The great Johan Cruyff wanted to straight up abolish the offsides rule. It would definitely be interesting to watch and there would be a lot more scoring.

I feel like there are quite a few things that could be done to increase the scoring but really soccer is the most popular sport in he world and if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it for us dumb Americans imo.

There is nothing in this world that ***** me more than rule changes in sports especially pointless and stupid ones. The Australian Rules Football League has a standing rules committee they have gradually made the sport I grew up watching and loving unwatchable, meaningless and ****.

One of the reasons i love football is the game is more or less unchanged, (can argue that tackles aren't what they used to be) but essentially the game is the same.

And a close 0-0 game could be really exciting, even more than a 4-0 where one team is vastly superior to the other. That's the beauty of football: the uniqueness of a goal/the scarcity of them. A goal could be like a buzzer-beater, end it all. And an upset is more likely, just like Mexico vs Germany now (I hope I don't jinx them)

Also, something I feel football is vastly superior to basketball is the simplicity of rules and the lack of reviews by referees. No ads, dumb replays, timeouts. The game is more fluid and easier to understand.
