Following 2016 potential draftees

Thats a good question and i wish free agency was before the draft like the nfl. Since it is not i want to say hayward but i think the jazz would be better with him. It is tough because if DL thinks he will leave next summer then pull the trigger.
I would maybe try to get more pieces involved.
Hayward and #12 (and trey burke) for isiah thomas and #3. Or something.
Thomas makes about 6 million per year this coming season and next season. Vs hayward makes about 17 million (iirc) this coming season and 25ish million next season.

Then you make up haywards production with a combo of thomas, and the #3 draft pick (Plus Burks and exum both being back and healthy and able to play the wing position).

Plus you could still go after a guy like bazemore. A guy like bazemore might be more enticed to come to jazz seeing the vacancy left by Hayward and knowing playing time is available.

Now the rotation looks like:
Thomas, exum, mack
Hood, burks, exum
Bazemore, hood/burks/ingles
Favors, lyles/booker
Gobert, favors/withey

IT is a good player, but bad fit with our team, because of the switching defensive philosophy Quin wants to institute.

So our team is markedly worse?

I guess you think so

I think thomas, #3 pick and bazemore > hayward and 12 and burke

That's just my opinion.
I think we would be better

Again. It doesn't have to be thomas. And it doesn't have to be Boston.

I saw someone ask why anyone would want to trade Hayward.
I answered that some people think that trading Hayward for good pieces is better than losing him for nothing and also better than paying him the max.

Who? Damien Jones...an NBA prospect because of his size, not his skill, and Kornet, who's a fringe prospect and fits the pro game better than the college game?

Look, some guys can take a leading role and do well. Some guys can't, at least not yet. Yeah, Baldwin struggled to lead Vandy, but he won't have that role here. There's not many guys with his combination of offensive skills, length, and defensive ability. He's still only 20. Dude can ball. Forget the stupid narratives and just watch him play.

Y'all put way too much emphasis on how a team does to evaluate a player. It's a minor part, there's so much that goes into a team doing well. Luck, chemistry, coaching (coaches ruin college bball).

Kornet is more than fringe prospect and Jones is a very good player (he is at least Ed Davis). That's two huge athletic big who have NBA skill and athleticism. Not to mention the 3 wing players who play next to Baldwin are all great 3t shooters.

If you are projecting a guy to be the 3rd best player in a draft, he should be able to lead that much talent to a better record. It's different when you are talking about someone like Paul George, who was on a Fresno State team without a supporting cast. I like him too, but that prediction is ridiculous and when made, subjects the player to greater scrutiny.

To me the #3 is so much less valuable than 1 and 2 in this draft that I probably wouldn't give any real asset we have that could make the Celtics even consider. Definitely not Hayward.

My contingency was if DL feels he leaves next summer. If they feel they can resign him then i wouldnt trade.

New Malachi Richardson breakdown

Also, am I the only one still on Skal island?

Richardson's struggles are a combination of bad shot-selection in the mid-range area (where he hit just 24% of his 2-point jumpers), to go along with his difficulties finishing effectively inside the paint. His game is built heavily around taking and making contested shots, and he can be quite a ball-stopper at times, overdribbling and freezing out his teammates frequently, not really reacting to the defense, and deciding what shot he wants to take before he starts his move. This is a tough way of making a living, but when those contested jump-shots are falling, it can be extremely impressive. The problem is when they don't, he can shoot his team right out of games. The hope is he can learn how to better utilize his talent and figure out how to take advantage of his terrific scoring instincts in a more structured role under the tutelage of a strong NBA coaching staff.

Although I am a FIRM believer in Quin and his ability to develop players, that whole paragraph screams stay away.
