Can't believe Beal's getting that much hype. He's 34% from 3..and he's supposed to be a shooter.

Freak touched on this in his interview with Locke.

Kanter & Favors are both Center in his opinion (Favors struggled guarding stretch 4 to the perimeter).

So even though we've always viewed Kanter & Favors as our corner stone at C and PF, I'd trade Kanter for a proven player (say Rondo) or a stud rookie (Beal). May be give up a bit more to get Rondo and get something back as well for Beal.

Every 4 struggles to guard stretch 4's. That is why stretch 4's are effective. Harpring is an idiot. Favors is a PF who can play C, but his best case position is PF.

Would I trade Kanter for Rondo? Hell yes. Would I trade him for a rookie who isn't that great? Hell no. Beal is a nice player, but I'm not trading a lottery center for him.
 
I will be livid if the Spurs get a lottery pick. Would much prefer seeing them descend into mediocrity over the next decade.


I would honestly much prefer keeping our core-four intact. An Al Jefferson trade would be best, but the probability of this happening doesn't seem to likely. I can only hope that Houston gets desperate, realizes that they can't get Howard, and trade for Al Jefferson.

I think Harpring was making more of a case for Favors not being a suitable 4 offensively in the podcast. He lacks the offensive skill that many PFs have, and is at the stage of his career where you can't really count on him alone for scoring (would be much different if we had a great passing point guard).

I agree that Favors is better off as a 4, but I can see where Harpring is coming from.

I don't know how they would. Who do they have to trade? The only thing I can think of is them completely dissolving their team and trading Parker and Manu.

Still, which lotto team is going to want Manu at his age?

I can see Parker getting some interest from mid-range lotto teams because he is still young.

You heard offensive, I hear defensive. Both points are valid to a certain extent regardless of what Freak actually said.

A Favors & Kanter frontline would be great length wise, but could be a bit slow chasing quicker players around.
 
Everyone who insists Favors is a 4 needs a reality check. His measurables are in-line with Dwight's. Considering Dwight is one of very few solid centers in the league, I'd then presume Favors could play center. Looking at his stats from 82games.com only solidifies this thought. Favors PER is 18.7 at the 5, two points better than his 16.7 at the 4. His net PER is also better at the 5. Obviously it would be great if we could put him at the 4 but it's not even close to a necessity.

But yeah, the 4 is his position. Keep driving that home.
